I've had Thermokings and Carrier trailers. Neither one would wake me up when put on start/stop, but I did notice that I felt more rested on continuous. So, I think the start stop did affect my sleep cycles negatively, just not enough to wake me up.
That said, the carrier trailers are obnoxiously loud and when put on start/stop, it can get annoying hearing it and having it shake the truck. I always wondered why Thermokings were so much quieter and why Carrier didn't use the same technology/parts that Thermoking uses so their trailers wouldn't be so loud and shake so hard when they start. Why would a company like Carrier not want to make their trailers quieter like Thermoking, that never made sense to me.
@Cobrawastaken how are you doing with the start stop on your EPU and the loud beeping noise/shaking of the truck when it starts? Are you sleeping through the night? How many times does it start and stop during the night (I'm sure it'll be more during summertime)?

The beeping when the truck starts is the inverter low voltage warning which hasn't done that since the first night I slept in the truck because I turned the beep off. I explained how to do it in a previous reply on this thread for anyone else using an EPU. I'm sleeping pretty good. Usually I sleep through it when the truck starts. It usually starts once a night when it's mild, but when you're really cranking the AC it'll start up twice a night, easily. It also depends on how long of a break you take. For just a 10hr minimum, it'll only start up once in that period if at all. If it's mild enough it won't even start. More than 10hrs is when you start to see it start up more since it doesn't quite fully charge the batteries whenever it starts up.bryan21384, BeHereNow97, Lonesome and 1 other person Thank this.

I know the company uses Samsara, what about fuel/routing? I know I’ll find out, just bored making conversation
-
They suggest a route in your load notes and I think you're usually meant to follow it but I don't always follow it to a T... Shh don't tell anyone...

Mainly it's just to make repowering loads easier since most of their trucks will be on the same routes. However, when it comes to avoiding Denver, Holland is very serious about following their suggested route. I can't remember exactly why, but I think they want to avoid any possibility of drivers taking E470 because of the ridiculously high toll.
There's no mandatory fuel stops though. You can fuel at any Love's and for the reefer you can fuel anywhere if you need to top it off before dropping the trailer or something and there's not a Love's nearby.BeHereNow97, Knucklehead, ClassAOldSchool and 4 others Thank this. -

Alright, time for me to stop procrastinating and update this post.
I delivered in La Crosse, deadheaded to Faribault, MN, and after going to the wrong address and getting the correct one from dispatch, I got loaded for Henderson, TX. There was a 1 missing in the address, it happens. Must be a new customer or a broker load. That was 132 empty miles and 929 loaded.
After I got empty in Henderson, I waited a few hours before getting my next load (first time that has ever happened). The pickup was in Mansfield, TX for 8am the next day so I drove to the love's in Midlothian, TX. Lucky I got there at 3:30pm because it was packed full. I waited not even 5 minutes to see if someone would leave, and sure enough someone did, so I got a spot. I'm still on my way to Warren, MI right now with this load for a Monday delivery. I'm kinda glad it has some extra time on it. My lazy behind been feeling like I need a break. This one is 163 empty and 1234 loaded.
Yesterday I got my preplan for Monday already. Picking up in Chelsea, MI going to Edmond, OK. 68 empty miles and 992 loaded. Kinda wish I was getting longer runs, but I'm still averaging a longer length of haul than my last company and I'm staying pretty busy so I guess I can't complain. -
Many parallels between FCC and Holland. So far Holland is tops due to sleeping rooms and driver lounge. I’m satisfied this is a good place to finish out my driving career. I’ve been off since Thanksgiving due to cancer, but chop and chop, and it’s gone and I’ve got a 1 year med card, so off we go…

I was thinking of starting a thread but there is enough clutter, so I’ll just tag along here, providing the OP doesn’t mind. Finished orientation today, load out tomorrow 22nd. There really is the old school family atmosphere here and it’s a welcome change. Was handed a 2027 Freightliner and everyone knows that can be good or bad. Hopefully I’ll be too busy to post much, but I just had to co sign everything on this thread so far is legit, and as advertised no surprises. Stay safe all.

You and any other drivers at Holland are welcome to post in here any time. I would have liked a brand new truck. I like the feeling that nobody else has slept in it before, even though the mattress is brand new in mine. I'm just weird like that.Speed_Drums, FullMetalJacket, Lonesome and 2 others Thank this.
