Reading the FMCSA regulation Title 49 regarding work history I read that in section 392.21 Application for employment b, (10), (i) as follows:
(i) A list of the names and addresses of the applicant's employers during the 3 years preceding the date the application is submitted,
(ii) The dates he or she was employed by that employer,
(iii) The reason for leaving the employ of that employer,
Also reading section (11): For those drivers applying to operate a commercial motor vehicle as defined by part 383 of this subchapter, a list of the names and addresses of the applicant's employers during the 7-year period preceding the 3 years contained in paragraph (b)(10) of this section for which the applicant was an operator of a commercial motor vehicle, together with the dates of employment and the reasons for leaving such employment;
Am I reading this correctly to state the extra 7 years over and above the last 3 years is "only" required if an application was an operator of a commercial motor vehicle?
My source for this info is "Code of Federal Regulations" title 49. Displaying title 49, up to date as of 4/20/2026. Title 49 was last amended 4/20/2026
