B-61 Mack, probably built in the 1970's or so. The "widow-maker " spoke wheels had split rims which could and did unexpected amputation if not handled properly. They were made illegal federally at some point in the 1970's but those in use were allowed to remain in service.

My only complaint so far is the fact that they 100% expect you to move trucks or fly a loaner if your truck has to go in the shop for longer than a few hours. Probably more of an issue for the OTR drivers like me, who live in the trucks. The home-every-night crowd travels much lighter than I do.

Other than that, yeah, I'm still cruising along, still content. Most of their dispatchers are ex-drivers, so you don't have guys who have never done the job telling you how to do yours. There have been a couple of payroll hiccups, but they have been swiftly resolved with a phone call. Some are my fault for not doing things right, some are their fault for clerical errors and honest mistakes. Nobody is being malicious or trying to screw me out of money I'm owed.

They will keep you rolling for sure. I always have at least one planned load queued up after the load I'm currently on, and sometimes I'll have two. They don't show up on my tablet, but I know that's how they run. If I plan on shutting down early to preserve recap, I'll call 'em to make sure I'm not leaving them high and dry on my follow up loads.

Definitely seeing the same few shippers and receivers over and over, though. If variety is your thing, you won't find much of it here.

I would take this old dog over those newer trucks any day. No computers to mess up, almost never breaking down, easy to drive. They were cold in winter and hot in summer but dependable as hell.

Looking at the rear wheel it appears to be a tubeless set up with the shape of the wheel surface. I think that bulge indicates that.

Thank you for the reply. Seems like a good company from what I've seen. They are letting me take truck home so I dont have to commute daily to drop lot in Roanoke.

Bumper, Friend, Lonesome and 1 other person Thank this.

If you have the opportunity, I'd advise moving it up a week. The way they do their benefits, they start on the first of the month AFTER you've put in a full calendar month on the clock. I started February 2nd, so my benefits didn't kick in until April 1st (because I didn't work the full month of February, see? Benefits didn't kick in until after I'd worked the full month of March). Whereas if I'd started three days earlier, I woulda worked the full month of February and my benefits woulda kicked in on March 1st.

May not be anything you're worried about, but it caught me by surprise when I went through orientation so I figured I'd mention it.

Friend, Rugerfan, Lonesome and 3 others Thank this.
