It sure is awful quiet on the truckstop thread. I guess all the drivers are content where they stop, don't have diesel engines that require fuel or need a shower. I always enjoyed all the good and bad reviews that were posted on this thread as it always helps drivers to find or reject truckstops as need be. Even retired drivers pulling a 5th wheel like me want to know where and where not to stop and why. I look forward to reading more comments on this part of TTR.
Where is everyone stopping at?

Well, a lot of truck stops out there. Gotta' remember, what is the reason a driver stops ? Fuel only, then on the road again? This driver wouldn't care about parking or shower wait or what kind of food is offered. Driver 2, fuel, shower, park for 10 off, he's concerned about ease of parking etc. Driver 3, no fuel, but wants a meal and shower then back on the road. So, yes, he needs easy parking while taking an hour off.
I will say from my time on the road, I couldn't believe how many truck stops were so poorly designed. And how many were sitting on their 5 acres and neighboring property was empty ! I mean, you couldn't buy another acre or 2 ? The Loves in DT Albuquerque had/has like 4 parking spaces. Not sure if it's still there or been enlarged (if there was room)austinmike and navypoppop Thank this. -
I always hit a Royal Farms in the afternoon for a 30 because I like their coffee.

I was trying to get some more response from today's drivers on the good and bad stops in the US. Even during my 44 years on the road the needs were the same. Fuel the truck, park rig, take shower, have dinner and go to bed it was routine.
I always tried to use Mom and Pop stops but the Pure, Union 76, TA, Petro and Flying J were everywhere and more convenient to find. I preferred to run nights so it was a lot easier to find a spot to spend your off duty time. -
I too enjoy Royal Farms and Sheetz. Back in my driving days they didn't exist but they sure are clean, bright and have good coffee.austinmike Thanks this.

Sooner later most truckdrivers will or have to use a truckstop for services related to the job, the truck or personal reasons.CassND Thanks this.

Sheetz is about the only one I stop at, or a local one by the yard for fuel, I usually sleep behind the dock I load at or at my house, usually only sleep in the truck 2-3 times a week
