Hey guys have a 2011 Volvo with a D13 the fan clutch is staying on I have a code SID33 FMI5. let me start of by saying i did some research and saw these trucks came with electric fan clutch and sometimes are switched over to air which is what previous owner did to it from the looks of it. Last solenoid was leaking out the bottom so i went to Volvo and got a new one, they gave it to me w the new adapter I hooked up the lines and still leaking from the bottom. After further research i figured the lines were maybe crossed so I put the air line that comes from the compressor into the "IN" side and the one that runs to the clutch to the "OUT" side is this correct? I have also disconnected both solenoid and a/c high side pressure sensors and fan still stays on. truck full of air key sw on and fan moves freely what else should I look into? anything helps thanks.

    Sorry Bud, wish I knew...

I kinda want to buy a Volvo VNL with the D13, but I stick with Ferightliner/ Detroit because I know them better.

I also used to fish offshore with boats powered by Volvo and I do know they are really proud of the motors at a dealer when it comes to buying parts

Maybe it's the clutch itself after the solenoid? If you gotta new solenoid has to be something downstream of that.

Or whatever upstream controls the solenoid.

Not familiar with Volvo, but on is the default for every air fan clutch I've ever seen. So disconnecting the solenoid would make the fan stay on. When activated the solenoid sends air to the fan clutch to make the fan disengage. Are you getting power to the solenoid?

Volvo D13 Engine Fan Clutch Constant Running Causes
"It appears that there is a short and open circuit fault related to the fan control solenoid. If the solenoid has been replaced with the appropriate one, the issue may lie in the wiring or a failure in the ECM driver. I recommend inspecting the wiring near the firewall and examining closely where the harness connects to the bracket near the air compressor, as this is a common problem area."
