Go to the nearest Cat dealer. If parts won't help ask for the parts manager. Still nothing then go to the general manager.

 

Reman engines are usually used remachined engine blocks, reground and/or polished cranks. Basically anything that has a core return. Just about everything else internal is new. Cylinder heads will be used reworked castings with new valves and overhead. Injectors probably rebuilt. Remans generally only get the parts replaced that need be. Otherwise a “new” crate engine would be north of $60,000. At least that is my experience with them.
It has also been 16 years since Cat has cast a truck block so finding a virgin one may not exist.

 

Didn’t International buy whatever blocks they had left over to make that Maxxforce junk ?

 

I think they did for use in the Cat brand trucks but I know ship loads were scrapped. Newell/CMC down here in San Antonio had new 3406E and C15 bare blocks stacked up 6 skids high coming in by the truck load from Holt/Cat for shredding when I was running scrap wheel loads in there back in 2011.

 

I thought the new content engines had a new block, head, and crank? A guy in KS that my brother hauls cattle with got a new content Cat and is currently arguing with them about an overhaul at just under 40k miles.
