I see absolutely nothing has been done to prevent further collisions or relieve under staffed and over worked air traffic controllers
USA airspace is not safe, no surprise tourism is the US has tanked.

The reason that air travel in the US has tanked is because of the airlines. Their fares and fees keep going up, seats get smaller, routes get cut, delays become longer and more frequent, and customer service is a thing of the past.

I used to love flying when I was a kid and a young man, but now it's nothing more than necessary evil if I want to travel somewhere beyond driving distance.

Well, I don't think the airline industry has "tanked", we'll save that term for the trucking industry. I read a RECORD 1 BILLION passengers flew in 2023, up from 853 million in 2022. Airlines continue to show a 30% increase every year, hardly tanking. I bet the airlines wish it was "self-serve", with no interaction. It's almost there now. Even the pilots, all they do is takeoff and land. I like the actual flying part, but airports are just too much. I always get profiled, and while smaller airports are the best, try and find a non-stop, doesn't exist. I only want to take off and land ONCE! There are over 10,000 flights in the air at any given moment, like right now, and about the only way I'll fly, is to attend a funeral, ironically, what half the passengers are doing. My daughter flys all the time. Doesn't think twice, like hopping on a bus. I don't know, why everyone has to travel so much, is home really that boring? This crash here shouldn't really deter anyone from flying, it's still the safest way to travel, miles wise, but we can't have zero risk, not yet. As long as humans are in control, someone has to pay the price for that. This was a colossal screwup, and sadly, that's how we learn from it.

As someone who has worked in the airline industry I can honestly say that flying isn’t what it used to be,literally to a point where driving to where I need to go (even distances over 800 miles) is more economically feasible and more mentally stable than flying. In July my wife and I are going to family reunion down in Pidgeon Forge and Gatlinburg,Tennessee. Originally the family reunion was scheduled to be held on a cruise ship with everyone meeting down in Houston,Texas and going to the ship in Galveston. But currently world events put the kibosh on that-and that was before fuel prices spiked. Some of my relatives might fly-closest airport in that area with airline service is McGhee Tyson Airport (TYS) near Knoxville but the airfares are prohibitively expensive and where some of my relatives are coming from they would have to take connecting flights. Flying used to actually be fun and relaxing-and RESPECTFUL!! Now, believe it or not it’s fallen to a point where I s*** you not taking Amtrak or dare I say,Greyhound is less stressful!
All of these aviation incidents/accidents are getting out of hand. And it all goes back to the 1980s and history has shown that cutting back funding to reduce costs in the sector isn’t the answer-it has made things worse!
    And Congress knows it!

For me it's simple. If I can't drive there in my own vehicle, I'm not going.
It's not because I don't trust the equipment used in public and commercial commuter fields, it's the personel manning and maintaining said equipment. Poor training, poor work ethic, poor focus and zero sense of personal accountability leave me deeply distrustful of putting my life in the hands of anyone I don't know.

I'm not sure about less stressful. I inquired about the train from Denver to Portland Or.,,,it takes a whopping 68 HOURS! 14 by car, 2 by air, bus,,,forgetaboutit, but about 26 hours, and about the cheapest. Amtrak doesn't own the rails they run on, and many times I heard of Amtrak sitting on a siding for hours waiting on a freight train. The least hassle is renting a car, and that has skyrocketed too.

Well at least on Amtrak you don’t hear about anyone starting a fist fight on either the train or at the check-in.

My daughter took a train once, and she said the people have a whole different attitude, they aren't worried about falling out of the sky or flying into helicopters, or in this case, running into ground vehicles.

That's probably because most folks aren't awake at that time. In San Antonio, for example, the train departs at something like 3:30 or 4:00 in the morning.
