Anybody happen to know at what weight a steer axle requires an assist cylinder or dual boxes? Really think this truck would look cool with 385's up front.

We have 315s on our dump truck, and changes the look quite a bit without going overboard so much. I assume you are never going to actually need the weight capacity for what you are doing with it.Deere hunter, Rugerfan, Feedman and 2 others Thank this.

I may need it, haven't decided yet. It's getting a different steer axle anyways because I don't want to deal with the expense and time of doing kingpins and converting over to hub pilots.Deere hunter, Magoo1968, Rugerfan and 3 others Thank this.

I wish 20-something me made better notes when I ripped the floor out years ago.Deere hunter, Feedman and Sons Hero Thank this.

I am curious about putting stud piloted 315 or 385's on a water truck. Are the wheels still available? My local dealer say I have to buy 22.5 hub piloted and have them machined out. I could just swap the hubs like I did on my other truck, but if I do any work for the USFS, I have to carry a spare that will fit all positions.

Still picking away at it. Cleaning up and painting parts for now, have numerous other little things taking up time right now. Ordered up a bunch of solid aluminum rivets, pretty much just need a sheet of aluminum and it's bodywork time.
OldeSkool and Deere hunter Thank this.
