    I have been team driving for 3 months now.My partner and I are birds of the feather and we get after it easily clicking off 3000 miles a week apiece.I fear we are getting the short end of the stick though.We work for a guy that owns 4 trucks and he splits our pay.I get .23 cpm for the miles I drive and my partner gets .27 cpm for the miles he drives.Ive been told that this isnt the way team driving should work.Also we are expected to do cleaning and maintenence work on our home time.Can someone please enlighten me.I love what Im doing but in all honesty Im not getting paid enough to justify being gone from home as much as I am.My stepson drives a straight dumptruck hauling dirt,makes more than I do,is home nightly and off every weekend.

    I always heard that you get paid for ALL the miles driven. Not just the miles you drove.

    $.23/mile solo isn't worth it, let alone team where you need to try to sleep in a moving truck.
    Some people can do it just fine. I can't sleep worth a darn in a moving truck. Doesn't matter how smooth the road is.

    Personally your getting hosed. Most teams split mileage and split total pay for all miles dispatched.

    1800 miles* .38 per mile= $684/2=342 each

    Just an example. Your boss is paying $.25 a mile average. I wouldn't turn a key for under $.35 solo let alone the hassle of teaming.

    Yeah your getting hosed:biggrin_2555::biggrin_25521::biggrin_25513:

    Curiosity are you getting paid for doing the maintenance?

    You say you are a student, if so, you are getting paid to train, and the senior driver will get more. If you are running as a regular team, you are getting ripped off. You should get a fee, and split the total pay for all miles driven.
    Good luck, and safe miles

    Team pay varies from company to company.

    For example Sothern Cal transport offers; .17 cpm to start per driver and maxes out at .195 cpm.

    On the other end of the spectrum you have Yellow Freight Team drivers receiving over .50 cpm (used to max out at .56 cpm split before the pay cuts).

    IMO team drivers should split the pay evenly and get paid for all the miles the truck turns regardless of who drove them.

    The only exception would be in a training situation where you have a veteran driver training a new recruit.

    If your training I'd say that's fine...but if your not then your getting the short end of the stick...As others said the team splits the pay with the miles driven
