I would call your Saskatchewan transportation department and ask them, and get them to send you the relevant regulations. If they say you are good, challenge the ticket.

Saskatchewan-registered semi-trucks operating out-of-province must adhere to periodic commercial vehicle inspection requirements, generally needing a safety inspection every 12 months for extra-provincial operation. If a recently purchased out-of-province trailer/semi is being registered in Saskatchewan, it must pass an SGI-approved mechanical safety inspection, unless it is under four years old, has a clean Inter-Provincial Records Exchange (IRE) status, or was inspected under a recognized NWP program within the last 90 days

 

Looks to me like it would be, but as I said call whatever Saskatchewan calls their transportation department and get them to confirm.

To win in court you need to show the regulation that proves the ticket is invalid as the Ontario inspection is valid. Without that they will take the officers word over yours.

Look up the regulation the officer cited on the ticket. What does it say?

 

As far as I know, sask will only not recognize us safeties. My previous company went through this. Us safety no good, but any province was fine. My argument would be, cdn standards are the same across the country, what does it matter what province I get it done in? What if I’m in Quebec on a load and the safety expires? Tow it back to Saskatchewan? Doesn’t make sense.

 

So the charge is operating an uninspected vehicle.

I'd take it to court and show you have a valid inspection.

Id also call and speak to the transportation department in Saskatchewan to get their response to the Ontario cvip being valid on that truck. Get them to email that to you and take that to court as well.

That's what i'd do. Im no lawyer so dont take my word that you will win.

I once had alberta dot ticket me (ardrossan scale) on a brand new truck because it didnt have a decal on the door pillar that the manufacturer was supposed to put on (cmvss decal). I fought it, was able to show that this was on the dealer and manufacturer, not the operator of the truck. Prosecutor told the officer they should go after the manufacturer, Judge tossed the charge.
