This sounds pretty dumb. With how few drivers actually use CBs anymore, the odds of said wrong-way driver being relayed to you as advanced warning are pretty low. The fact that you have to reach back for such a weird situation to illustrate usefulness indicates how unnecessary they are. The tiny amount of usefulness that can be gained isn't worth the idiots spewing garbage.

It can be helpful so that you have an idea as to whether or not it's a momentary slowdown or a lengthy delay. This information can be relayed to dispatch, as needed. That said, I personally don't think the small amount of benefits are worth the barrage of garbage.

Since I go back to the actual CB craze...bought my Midland [re-boxed 23 channel with SSB/USB] at Mullers Dinner on the Ho Chi Min...I remember the disappearing trunk mount that allowed on to 'hide' the antenna under the trunk lid so as to not advertise the CB to thieves.

I remember the one fleet owner at a Chem Leaman location who would leave his antenna hidden but monitor the traffic when driving into the terminal area.

    He learned a lot!

A working cb radio should be a manditory requirement piece of safety equipment.
Gps, waze, texting, pod casts, cell phones, are all nice.
But non can tell you about the debri, accident, huge item in road, spotty black ice, dot or cop in road, that is half mile just out of eye sight. Nor on a long lonely drive, can they talk or bs with you for hours.
Yes they can be annoying, and at ir near truckstop full of bs you want no part of. But that why you can turn off. Once back on the big road turn back on.
So the next time you are sitting in bumper to bumper stopped traffic. Think now nice it would if been. If you had been told to get off at the last exit and work you way around.

    JolliRoger and Numb Thank this.

First, if you are going to try to be authoritative with a comment, check your #### grammar. It's like lane discipline. That left lane isn't always off limits, but things sure run more smoothly when people observe the left lane for passing only rule. Apply to your comment: Take that same care with your comments, and it will sure be a lot easier figuring out what you are trying to say.

    So, so funny.
I don't really disagree with the sentiment, but expressing it like that can get you banned.
    (Speaking from personal experience.)

But mostly, you need a good CB so you can tell everyone you have your red panties on and are ready for bed.

Bad drivers. They come from all backgrounds. So do good drivers. Despite what certain political people may try to tell you, citizenship status nor country of origin doesn't determine how good nor bad a driver is.

    Numb Thanks this.
