Hot Tamale at South of the Border...gone

Oh I do it got that covered

 

Like the signs says;
"Warm beer
Bad food
Lousy service"

 

I stayed at South of the Border a few years ago, what a dump. Its pretty much just a place to stay and not get out of your truck. Not a very safe place to walk the dog at night. Kind of sad too. Times have sure changed since its hayday back from the 50's to the 80's .

 

I agree with Smokey12 on this. I stopped a couple of times during my driving career only because of my HOS were tight. I was not impressed at all. The parking was free but there were not a lot of food choices here. I stopped while rving with the wife and she wanted to know what possessed me to stop here. She was right. I can't believe that this tourist trap is still open.

 

Wow. Used to get hot dogs there and parked there. Last time I visited FedEx trucks were literally banned from the property (I guess there were too many complaints about their drivers using the parking as a transfer point and taking up all the needed parking spaces).

 

Porky’s was the go to stop back 20plus years ago.

 

So was the strip club across the street from the truck stop until it closed down.
