Trollin a little bit? I dunno, tomorrow, next week, November 27, 2028??? Never? Your guess is as good as mine. They've been in the trucks for years and never been on.

I am owner driver and have a forward facing camera that's been broken for 12 months now. I have never checked my staffers driving habits, nor care too. His not perfect and sometimes I do wonder. But he shows up and is reliable, has a clean driving record and that's good enough for me. I used the camera maybe 6 years ago to help police with an accident. Though it was my doing I also felt there was enough circumstances around it to call it an accident and no fines, points, etc taken. Ol debt collector thanked me for the footage and said there are no accidents anymore, only incidents, and handed me a citation for 2 points and $500 please. Hence why I don't care the camera is broken, I'll keep my money preferring to see, hear, and know nothing these days. Besides its always the trucks fault anyway.
I'm also up for a new motor, new truck, new something. The one I like, a Chinese E truck can install the telematics but my Gov doesn't trust them. So I have to have it installed in Aus so my Gov can spy on me. Think on the back of this thread and another elsewhere about vehicles spying on drivers for insurance purposes. I will find and rebuild something pre 2007, something with a mix of parts instead of just the manufacturers, and leave the brave new world to itself. -
Not only are the cameras on all the time.
Those saying they have A.I. monitoring each and every video moment are 100% accurate. Your employer will have every booger picking activity on file . Every grunt and fart will be recorded by audio also.
Not only will every tidbit of information be used against the driver when freight slows down. When you piss off office staff, which isn't nearly as hard as you think because they are a sensitive bunch with little other resposibilities, they will make all your videos their pet project.
When cameras go in, no surprise, more useless office staff is hired on to suck the lifeblood out of the trucking company and monitor all the new entertainment.
Forward facing cameras are nearly as bad. Sure, the bugger picking events are not on file, but you will have scores of new office drones with no trucking experience making issue of common trucking events like wide turns with no clue why a truck takes more then one lane to make a turn.Last edited: May 7, 2026 at 2:15 PM

Just to tell you all what’s coming down the pike and why …
Lonesome Thanks this. -
The above should later be "fun" to watch....when something goes wrong (a matter of when -- not if) ....especially when there's no one in the cab to address the ensuing mess....
We don't live in a perfect world...& neither do the above autonomous players.
