I'm sure by now everyone has heard the news, Hirschbach buying 500 trucks from Aurora that will be fully replacing drivers and supposedly autonomous.
Famous investor and 100 year old mega billionaire Warren Buffett, who owns Mclane, has already been driving his fully autonomous trucks with no person in the cab down in Texas.
So I as a truck driver am forced to take a step back and re evaluate.
So many questions.
But you already know once they start there's no going back.
What's a young man to do in a time like this with situations such as these?
Hirschbach is showing their hand

Wait for the first fatality accident. It will come. Not something I would like to see, but it’s reality.
Several companies have been experimenting with using autonomous vehicles. Most have a driver in them. There are a few that are running a lead truck, with human inside monitoring the situation, and up to 4 trucks following with no person in them.
Thing is if it was going so well, every company on the planet would be lined up with cash waving. Yet they are not.drvrtech77, motocross25, Arctic_fox and 3 others Thank this. -
Hence the old saying....accident looking for a place to happen!drvrtech77 and Mega Express Thank this.

Yep, have to agree. Wait until that first fatal accident. It's bound to happen, but Mr. Bright Idea don't think it will happen to him.

A driverless truck can’t be any worse than these people that can’t speak or read or understand English.

Right up till a jurry sees there is no driver they will ruin with a nuclear verdict, just a company. and hands down a 100+ million dollar settlement and insurance refuses to touch driverless trucks. or until one causes a giant fatal pileup.Mega Express Thanks this.

Everybody’s starting to get this panic about autonomous vehicles… Look at all the incidents involving the autonomous cars and the problems they’ve been having with some of the autonomous trucks… They’re still a ways off from implementing this widespread
Mega Express and 77fib77 Thank this. -
Oil does seem to be going up a little bit lately. I don't know if I buy the BS entirely it's just one of those things we won't know until we know.
I'm just put into a bit of weird situation personally at the moment with these guys starting their attempts to automate. I'm almost at 2 years now and just passed 100k miles recently.
I feel like if I'm going to be forced out, I might as well do it voluntarily and be first instead of last so I can get started on something else.
I don't know I just don't know... But I do know I'm glad I don't have to pay for diesel right now, $6.50 all over Ohio and Indiana.
