I was going to a job interview and had no idea where I was going. Did not have a phone mount and was using phone as gps. Was holding it. Cop saw me holding it. It was pretty egregious and actually really sucks since I very very rarely use a phone at all while driving and do not use it at all since then.

One thing I can honestly say for certain: I would never ever use a cell phone driving a truck. I don’t actually use a phone driving a car normally- it was being used as a gps as I was trying to find a job interview. Stupid mistake but really I don’t use a phone while driving - not even hands free phone normally so that was not characteristic of me whatsoever. The error was just particularly egregious as I was holding the phone and cop saw me doing that. Trucks are like gigantic missiles - cars are dangerous too of course but trucks are like missiles. They are like wonders of the world tbh and the catastrophic damage that could be done in a truck and the safety of everyone involved … there is no way I would ever operate a cmv using a cell phone. I can understand why the guy got fired. Not saying what I did was good at all but I really can’t imagine using a phone driving a cmv unless you wanted to die or kill other people. Can certainly happen in a car too of course… but trucks are … just next level I think.

I can't say for sure. First things first.....apply to the companies suggested here. Apply to Western Express as well. You've got everything to gain and nothing to lose at this point. There's no points on your license, but the albatross will be what the insurance providers at these companies say. Just apply and see what happens.

See, here's the thing, typically, you won't have the luxury of describing what happened in an internet interview situation, all a prospective employer has to see, is a red flag on a screen. Rarely do you have a chance to defend yourself, however, you didn't kill anyone, and for all you know, the interviewer has had the same thing. My advice, this shouldn't deter you, and go IN PERSON to these places, it shows you mean business, and someone will take you. We need drivers so badly, certain "offenses" are being looked at again, and non-threatening things like drug convictions or money woes, and even texting are being reconsidered. I wouldn't set your goals on "Western", known for ridicule, but I think they are okay, keep us posted hey? And no, Chinatown is as red blooded as you and me.:p
