It's a bit like the cantina in star wars. Tons of different languages, music and costumes, and all of it is strange and slightly annoying.

Keep the $30K in the bank, then start adding to it with your new trucking career. Someday, you can retire with a nice bank account and live the good life somewhere.

You ain't kidding. Yesterday this dude comes into the restroom with his phone on speaker, his friend blasting out loud in whatever gibberish they were, and him replying just as loud, same thing at the fuel pump with a different person yesterday as well.

Yes, living in the truck is a way to save a ton of money. It takes a while to figure out some of the practicalities, but it is like an automatic pay raise if the company and their operations allow for doing it.

I’m 35. I’d get my CDL again in a second. Have never regretted it at all. The only job I’ve done out of a truck for a couple months I can’t even describe the relief I felt getting back in one.

I got my CDL at 35. Worked in a factory for several years prior. Went OTR with a smaller company near my home. Did a hard year all about the US. Got on with LTL and home daily. Been doing that for 11 years now, and I can't see myself doing anything other than trucking since. It took me awhile, but once I became a trucker, I found my niche.

    Corrections pays decent.

Personally I would like to try welding. After a couple of years they can make good money.

Man some of you are really negative, I can be negative but the idea of working in a factory and having to actually talk to people I don't like keeps me in the truck. There is negatives to any job, my son is in HVAC and spends the summers on roof tops in the blazing sun, if he was in residential he would with be in an attic down south or stuffed into a tiny space inside trying to fix a POS furnace that should have probably been thrown away 20 years ago with a home owner telling him it is not that old and complaining about the price they charge. Do I get pissy in traffic... Yep, had to spend the week going through Saint Paul 4 times a day watching people be idiots all around me, still enjoyed it more than any other job I could think of.
