, it's not just the young drivers. Anything on the road is contagious. One driver see's another doing or not doing something, they follow suit. Monkey see, monkey do!
old-six-pack Thanks this. -
I was never a big fan of using the high beams at night for flashin a driver, but the low beams sure. I always appreciated the gesture and gave em the 4 ways after I got done movin over.
Now day or night if I saw Rosco Peco Train hidin hind the bushes I'd flash the lights to oncoming for the heads up. I heard that was "aiding and abedding" or somethin like that but Rosco don't see the headlight after I passed him anyways. -

I dont know about all of you out there, but with the amount of time i spend in my truck, i have figured out where the switches are at. I dont need to look around to find the proper ones. I went to a driving school at first, but i knew to flash because i was raised in and around trucks like alot of you. Maybe we should work on getting some old school drivers teaching at these schools.

I would never flas my 4 ways as in CA they will write you a ticket if you dont have an emergency. Why cant drivers turn lights off, are all the trucks wired to the ignition these days.

I have never driven a tractor trailer but i know courtesy. I think like alot of folks have already said here people just dont seem to care anymore or maybe they dont know any better. I have always turned my lights off and on randomly to let a truck over but i dont have daytime running lamps on my F150. Shoot if i am in a rural area and see a truck closing in on another truck or car ill flash to let him over into the hammer lane. I have even tapped my brakes lightly out of courtesy if there was no one behind me to let a truck over a lane if he was closing in fast on another vehicle. Plenty of drivers during the day can see my right hand on top of the wheel making a circular motion waving them over. I think some drivers just stare down the hood at the road 15 ft in front of them and dont pay attention to whats ahead and the other drivers around them. I unfortunately have to commute on I-75 and I-285 5 days a week and see all kinds of fools out there! Drivers if i see you trying to get over a lane out here in traffic i'll try and let you over! Hopefully i'll be in a big truck soon. I'm trying to get my cdls now. I wanted to buy my own truck, authority and step deck to get started but i guess i need to get a year under my belt w a big company. I'm thinking Millis Transfer since Cartersville is only 30 mins from my house.

Maybe some are that way....But I won't lower my standards for any reason!
Daylight: I turn the headlights on to let you know you're passed my front end.
Dark: I turn my headlights off momentarily to let you know you're passed my front end.
When I'm passing you: If you have the common courtesy to flash me over I flash you once with my hazards.
I don't like the high beam flash...But it's better than nothing. If you flash with the high beams...I respond with one flash of the left turn signal.

If you look at it this way, whether California has a law against it or not, at least flashing the 4-ways doesn't make you disappear in the dark from the rear with the marker-light interrupt switch......
