I would assume they have been doing it for years. They have been around for over 30. With so many companies to choose from it is great to be able to go with the one you feel fits you the best. W/S are the one's who pay the insurance. Don't really think there is anything FMCSA can do, it is the insurance companies that want experience for better rates.

Also a May driver I talked to in the truck stop said he only spend 4 DAYS, ONLY 4 DAYS with a trainer, he said it was almost a waste of time, he started with May in December expecting to go 21 days but I guess May says 1-21 days as needed. So I guess now Kabar could say may in unsafe as well and he worked for them.

    I just went to

    http://www.fmcsa.dot.gov/

I did a search for experience requirement or driver experience several different tries and NOTHING comes up. Like you said TD I think Kabar just likes to stir the pot. Oh-well.

CAGE and don't you think if there was a problem with them doing it this way that they would have figured it out already? I think they are smart they buy good used equipment they get drivers straight out of acredited schools and they do well, If they don't think that the driver is ready to go on his own then home he goes, I'm sure by the time we get to the orientation they are going to know that we know our stuff. Take Care TD.

So what makes me any more unsafe than the next guy? I can do the same crap you do, getting out and looking, and so forth. Look at W/S safety record compared to the other companies you bag on. Also where in the FMCSA does it say that you must be accompanied by a trainer for 6 months after receiving your CDL? I am pretty sure there is not one single rule in there that states anything even close to this.

Prove me wrong or go back into the hole you came from. W/S has been doing this successfully for years and will keep doing so.

This dude is out there doing it, I have met with him twice when he has come thru here what seems to be the problem? I think you just can't do what we are doing and so you are mad about it. This is just my thoughts, I was wrong once I can't remember when the last time was though... LOL.

Spoken Like a true know it all rookie. That school will only teach you what you need to know to get your CDL. Thats it. Have they taken you to a dock and shown you how to deal with a shipper? Have they shown you how and what a BOL is? Have they shown you how to read a map and make a trip plan. no No AND NO. This and a thousand other things is what the trainers job is so that know it all rookies don't go out and kill some one. What I'm doing here is trying to clue some wannabes in that if you even think for one minute that you know crap when you come out of that school then do the world a favor and stay the hell away from big trucks.

Yipper a real Rookie willing to learn and do the right thing for the right reason, I do know how to read a map, How about 18+ years as a Courier where I was TOTALLY on a commission and what I did is what I made, I did very well, In fact sold two(2) companies that I built from the ground up for cash in my bank acct. I do know what a BOL is, I do know how to read a map, My instructor has real life experiences after 30+ years driving OTR he shares these real life stories with us, The school teaches much more then to just get the CDL at least mine is, I will be backing to a dock to learn that, I have real customer service skills not like yours mine are real and genuine not the puffed up chip on your shoulder act that you put on at the customers location so you can get to your next Casino and blow your next pay check.
Dude you are barking up the wrong tree when you try to play down or degrade a company that you have no idea what you are talking about and one that won't take you because of your track record out there as a "Super Trucker" So like deserted1 said go back and slowly crawl in the hole you came out of we don't need your words of encouragement here. Thanks. TD.

Your #### right May is un-safe. Thats one reason why I left them is because they started letting rookies with 3 months experience do the training and saying that drivers come out of school know how to drive. FMCSA can do allot. That's why they are in the process of coming out with a new rule requiring 600 hours of training, On the road with a trainer that has more then 3 yrs of safe OTR driving. FMCSA rules the trucking world and can and will put un-safe companies out of business.

Well I've said all I'm going to say here. When reality hits you between the eyes and you are trying to figure out what went wrong. Just remember ol' Kabar tried to tell you.
