Are flipflop illegal?

Better drive barefooted than in flip flops.

 

Illegal no. Should they be? Yes.

Consider this. Your average pig likes to pee #### and worse in the parking lot. Flip flops not only usually have no socks protecting you but are wide open to all that.

Second they offer ZERO protection. Less then zero really around heavy equipment. Sharp things, glass, caustic materials, oils and more. Your chances of being hurt wearing a flipflop are very high and near 100% by comparison to even a shoe. Good luck with workmens comp, insursnce or such.

And finally as was pointed out they can come loose during an emergency. Or if you need to flee your truck due to any reason. Lets say a burning fuel leak. Have fun running across that in shorts and flops rather then jeans and shoes or better boots.

In closing heavy equipment and flipflops do not mix.

 

some companies wont let you on there proprerty with flip flops, or a Vest.

 

My trainer told me once about a guy who got his toe stuck in one of the holes in the catwalk material on the steps of his truck. He put a pretty nasty gash in it as all his weight was falling away from it all at once, so be careful of that as well.

Hell yeah it is. Minimizes the effect of toe jam.

 

Of course a flip flop is legal, how are you supposed to get back? ( see you on the flip flop),,What?
