I’ve worked as a company driver for about 2 years. Some days it feels like I’m stepping on eggshells or maybe I’m just going crazy, only happens around my coworkers/boss. Coworkers are having personality shifts every week. Feels like working part time at a circus.

When I work by myself it feels perfectly fine. Night shifts are good. I think I need to find something that’s like: once I’m dispatched please leave me alone.

So what kinds of driving jobs are low-contact? I’m in the Southwest MN area.

Probably those linehaul drop & hook jobs.
Companies such as Old Dominion Freight Lines. Lots of night driving also.

If youre working for a micromanaging company, usually starter companies, you'll run into that problem. If you screw up a lot, you'll have problems. Maybe a smaller OTR company that has people in the industry that understands drivers, maybe ones that used to drive. What type of freight fo you haul now?

Everyone is stressed out right now. Gas just went up double. Groceries are out of control. A large fry at McDonald's from the dollar menu a few years ago is now over 5 bucks. Companies are feeling the pinch as well. So it really is best to keep communication with coworkers/bosses to a minimum right now. Some guys will smile at your face and then toss you to the wolves behind your back.

I would suggest trying to find a company that doesn't hire any inexperienced drivers. That's what what my current company does. I gotta say, I like them a lot. I've been here 6 months now, and I also am coming up on 2 years.

Never hear a peep from anyone unless it's necessary. It doesn't happen much at all. I just show up do my job and leave, and I think the company feels the same way.

I know my company has jobs listed in Minneapolis all the time. Not sure about the rest of the state. I'd recommend them, I haven't had any issues, and no brand new drivers around.

Paying 5 bucks for a large fry at McDonald's is ignorant lol. Y'all better start using those apps and get deals and rewards on some food at this point. I'm here to tell you....the points rack up quick at Wacky Ds lol

In all seriousness, I 2nd your advice about finding a company that doesn't hire inexperienced drivers. That's really good advice. Many of those compare often times under the radar. The question is what type of job he wants. We only know night shift so far.

I don't think that was their point, just an illustration how off the wall things have become. Not sure who or what this person does, but the whole point of becoming a truck driver is so you don't have to handle the ups and down moods of a conventional job. I'd say, 90% of my truck driving I was left alone. The cell phone killed that, but still has an alleged on/off switch. Stay put, you'll be fine. The least interaction with human beings in trucking is without a doubt a line-haul. BTW, welcome to the circus,,
