Several months ago I saw the ad for Gazelle, and another company which I can't remember at the moment.
So I called both of the yards and spoke to the managers. I learned that drivers only average $21-$22 an hour.
And as others have said, it's in California. By the way, I have spent half my life in the bay area.

There's great food in Bakersfield also.

This is an old post, but did you find oilfield work in California? Im looking for oilfield work. Looking to stay in Cali. Thanks

Sentinel has crude terminals in Bakersfield, Santa Maria, and Santa Paula. They also have other locations in California that do light oil and other types of petroleum products.

Unless it’s absolutely booming, making big money in the oilfield is about working long hours In Un hospitable locations. South Texas is about as hospitable as it gets but still has a need for hiring outside of the people who live around there, when it’s busy. Sure there are oilfield jobs in Southern California too but locals fill all those jobs and demand isn’t ever very high.
Probably most would be better off finding a normal fuel hauling job near home and stay there until you get some seniority. Fuel hauling is 24/7/365 so it isn’t great working overnight on Christmas Eve and stuff so as a new hire that’s what you will be doing. But after some years you could end up driving basically 9-5 M-F and making a respectable income.RockinChair Thanks this. -
That's why Gazelle is recruiting aggressively: they suck.
You should be making more than $300 per night in South Texas. Being paid by the load is definitely a step down from being paid by the hour. And rotating days and nights? F that!
