Recent grad looking for local or regional

    Hi all. Thanks in advance!

    I graduated at the very end of 2025 from a local driving school. I have been working using my CDLA since February but it's low pay, low potential driving a dump truck with a pup trailer.

    I'm looking for tractor trailer experience, ideally local but also open to regional in the Johnson City, TN area. I have had a couple interviews with us foods, hoping to hear back soon about a road test. Sysco is a no, as well as Performance. (Got email replies that they're moving forward with other applicants).

    I have a speeding ticket (16 over, yes I know it sucks) from September 2025. For this reason Landair can't bring me on board. That's the only ticket on my MVR.

    Struggling to make ends meet so I'm reaching out here for resources or advice. Got a little one and a baby on the way.

    Get your hazmat and tanker endorsements and Amerigas will hire you to drive to peoples houses and fill the propane tanks. Starts and around 75k a year in most areas.

    Your speeding ticket, combined with your lack of tractor trailer experience is going to hurt you here. If you can't get on with Sysco, or find anything regional, I think you need to consider OTR for a year or 2. You're in competition with much more experienced drivers looking for the same thing. You can't get to higher pay without experience.
