There’s a TA and Flying J not far from Harrisburg. I’d say just time out to get to your delivery close to midnight and hope it takes a couple hours. Should have spots opening up by 03:30-04:00. They’re pretty decent sized

There’s a chance they might get you a reload for afterwards today also, so that’d be nice if you can just roll out to your next pickup

It’s loads like these that make me question my life’s choices lol. I took the load thinking I was picking up at 15:15 but blue bunny is saying no that’s the “dock time” and it’s gonna be closer to 5 or 6.SMH

Well’s is a bit unpredictable. As much as I dislike picking up at Tyson’s mud hole facilities, I like that it’s ready by the DDT 99.9% of the time

Yeah, midnight deliveries throw me off for some reason and I have more time than I thought so I’m gonna complete my 34 and pickup between 02:00 and 04:00. I got myself worked up for nothing lol

Well midnight delivery didn’t hurt as much as I thought lol. I know I can be a crybaby about that stuff but that’s just me. I still do the job and get it done.

Honestly that’s been the hardest part of adjusting back to OTR is the appointment times can just suck sometimes for lack of a better word. Last 3 years I was driving a pack master garbage truck working Monday through Friday, 06:00 to 14:00 and it’s been hard to break that cycle for me but this is what I signed up for. I was making like 2800 to 3,000 a month doing that and inflation was just killing me so I came back OTR. Just wanted to put that out there.

Anyways, sometimes in trucking your the hammer and sometimes you’re the nail. I got a reload picking up 5 miles from Pittsburgh. Shipper has overnight parking but truckers path said there was truck parking at the casino next to the Steelers stadium. Yeah right, what a joke that was trying to go downtown.

So I got parked at the shipper and I don’t load till the AM so i decided to catch an uber and catch a Pittsburgh Pirates games. Sometimes you gotta take advantage of this job when you can. So I’ll get loaded in the AM and back to LeMars I go. Ice cream season is in full swing swing baby!!!

It’ll definitely burn you out at times, especially when you get flipped back and forth a few times in the same week. I think midnight deliveries are probably my least favorite. Pretty much turns into an all nighter by the time you sit there waiting on calls and texts for docks, lumpers, and BOLs. Midnight pickups from places like Tyson aren’t too bad though cause you can roll out and enjoy the empty roads til you’re tired and ready to shutdown

Pirates game sounds like a good time though. Pretty convenient for a customer to have overnight parking in a cramped city like Pittsburgh

Now I’m just dealing with trying to get home. I requested to be home the fifth which is this upcoming Friday. I was told Thursday my home load leaves Monday. Sweet, I’m gonna get home early, so yesterday my load going to Le mars disappears and all of a sudden I’m picking up in de Pere and going to Sioux, so now im thinking ok, they must be setting me up for a pork load to go home with. I get to my pickup and i get “deliver load asap” “pickupnext one and swap at loves” deliver his load in Wisconsin” so I guess there goes my Monday pickup. I would’ve appreciated a phone call at least to me me know there was a change of plans. I know they have till Friday to get me home but I was already in cruise control and now they want me back going 1000 miles an hour again. Just always feels like the week before hometime has got be a #### show. After I just got done thinking how smooth this trip went because I stayed out seven weeks this time and the first six weren’t bad but now I’m just aggravated.

Not sure where home is for ya, but they might just relay your hometime load out to ya. But yeah, that’s pretty much the reason my dispatcher gave me for why they try not to disclose hometime load info til the last minute — to prevent people from making arrangements or getting stressed out if there’s a change of plans.

Good news is being back to 1000 mph is the paycheck will be a bit better.

They’ll get ya home on time either way. At least you got a pretty easy round trip to knock down some miles with. Swaps do get frustrating at times here for sure though. Seems like they always show up when you’re on an easy load and cruising along or right before hometime.

There definitely gonna get me home on time, I just checked out a littler early. Plus the traffic and construction up to De Pere sucked on top of it being almost 90 degrees so I had a short fuse yesterday.

I’m feeling bad now because my dispatcher was just trying to make me more money before I went home and now I’m wishing I ran those miles. Lesson learned, lol, calm down and take a breath and look at the big picture. That’s why we are out here to make money. Miles picked up big time for me and and I made some good money this round out.

The thing I hate most about the swaps is it’s another trip sheet I gotta figure out.
