That email change part is the one that gets me. Seen it start happening more, carrier you've used a bunch suddenly has a new email on the packet and it's a gmail instead of the company domain they always used. Or the phone's different. People skip right past it cause the MC checks out and they've hauled for you before.
Thing is once somebody owns the email, all that "always verify with the carrier" stuff kinda stops meaning anything, you're just verifying with the guy who stole it.
What I do now, if the email or phone changed recently I treat em like a brand new carrier even if the authority's been clean for years. Doesn't matter how long they've been around if the contact info moved last week. That's usually where it starts.
Good on those two for actually calling. Most won't.
Fraudulent Use of MC#, another thing we have to watch now.

I am completely confident in what @Oxbow posted to be what actually happened due to many years of history with him and others who have interacted with him. You I had no knowledge of until you quoted me.Last edited: Jun 5, 2026

I know Dave, and if he it said it, it happened. I don’t know you… so you can F off. Also brokers always ask for the MC number. Unless of course you know them.
You can sit in a room and be quiet and people will think you’re dumb. Or you can open your mouth and prove them right.bullhaulerswife, Deere hunter, JimmyTwoTimes and 11 others Thank this. -
So, this has been eating on me a bit.
Everyone that commented on this thread except you shows concern for what was happening, not just to me but more importantly to the industry as a whole. You on the other hand came up with the explanation for the thread as me being bored and spending the time concocting this to make myself seem.......seem what, important? How on earth does this thread make me seem anything at all other than concerned for those who make their living with their own numbers, and the industry in general.
Anyway, thanks to all of the rest of you who took this at face value, and especially thanks to @Banker , @D.Tibbitt , and @ElmerFudpucker for vouching for my character.Deere hunter, JimmyTwoTimes, Big Road Skateboard and 8 others Thank this. -
I am old school and am not ashamed of it. I think technology has ruined our society and how we interact with others, but it is what we have to deal with currently. It is difficult to actually know people on this forum but fortunately through texts with friends and then texts with friends of friends and then actually meeting some people in person I personally can tell you all I need to know about certain people.
I have never met Mr @Oxbow but I feel like if I do one day, I will like the person I meet. Some unknown person I haven’t interacted with I don’t care about. Elmer said it well, F him!Last edited: Jun 6, 2026

And this here is an example of how to either A. Destroy your credability in one shot.
B. An example of a failed trolling attempt.
C. Proving your a fool at best
Id add more but guy already got dogpiled while i was dealing with other things and im still coffeeing up. But really? I mean attacking oxbow. Really? Dude has been here even longer then i have and has the chops that if he says something i and most others take it at face value.Deere hunter, JimmyTwoTimes, Star Rider and 3 others Thank this. -
The company I am employed with has company trucks and uses a 3rd party logistics company to contract outside carriers. Talking to the traffic/freight manager the other day. Over at least the last 60 days, he has been contacted by law enforcement agencies 4 or 5 times concerning fraudulent use of DOT numbers. According to what he is saying, this is more times this year alone than any previous year.
