Small cam 855 oil pump mounted power steering pump leak

I have a small cam in a l series ford that used to have a belt drive power steering pump/tank combo. I replaced it with a newer ps pump and separate tank from a 90s ih truck with a n14. The problem is it doesn’t matter what gasket I use between the oil pump and ps pump it leaks after a couple hundred hours because the mounting flange on the ps pump hardly covers the counter bores for the bolts that hold on the back plate of the oil pump. is there a different back plate for these oil pumps or do I need a different ps pump or a little bit of engineering. I thought a back plate from a n14 would fit but it looks like the bolts are slightly different (I haven’t tried yet) @OLDSKOOLERnWV

 

Good catch on that but the bolts have not been a problem and I have locktited them on the last 2 gaskets just because
Yes they are elongated because that gasket was cut by hand since 2 aftermarket and a couple from Cummins didn’t work i am about ready to just load it up with silicone and hope it’s the last time

 

Yes I believe you are correct that is why it leaks and why I made my own gasket that time the factory one is pretty much the same size as the pump flange where that one sticks out maybe 1/4 inch
I could try to make another one with a wider profile yet but it’s still going to barely be clamped in that spot due to my oil pump and ps pump combo

 

No continuous surface unfortunately….not even that I could make with some machining…. I like that idea though

 

Might work if the pilot on the pump is long enough…. I just siliconed the piss out of it this morning but I want a better solution for sure
