Correct.
That only reinforces the fact that if you are running a standalone GPS for mileage you’re screwed, and if your ELD ever glitches and doesn’t match ECM miles, you’re screwed.
If they choose to push the point, any electronic device for tracking mileage sets us as an owner/driver to be at their mercy, and fail.Deere hunter Thanks this. -
ELD should match ECM miles. Pull the report for missing miles and apply to the state. Pretty easy.
That cut out switch for the odometer will get you in a IFTA audit or a compliance review.Deere hunter and Siinman Thank this. -
I always just use my notes app in my phone and record odometer at state lines.
Deere hunter Thanks this. -
what if you're talking on the phone, or watching videos on Facebook, or taking a nap when you cross the state line? That would never work for me. I'll let the machine do it.Deere hunter, Siinman and nikmirbre Thank this.

There was no sending in for me. He wanted to schedule an appointment and we sat down in his office and went through everything. This was a state guy assigned to my part of of the state with an office local to me.
I went in a second time for about a 5 minute visit when he was done so he could go over it. Easy.Deere hunter and Siinman Thank this. -
I went ahead and broke down and purchased another GPS, this time ill mount in on my window instead of the cupholder. I felt almost naked trying to keep track of my miles this week. I purchased one with a dash cam also, so im going to take down my other dash camera and use the gps as one.
I know within the past few years they changed the rules as far as where you can mount stuff on the window. I see guys with stuff mounted everywhere.....
Is there a place where I shouldn't mount? Ive got a w900 and was just gonna mount in the bottom center. I thought it couldnt be mounted in the sweep of the window wipers or something but, I know they changed it recently. I just dont know what the change was. -
