Nascar Hauler drivers make on average 80K a year

I figured they did better than that.

actually for just working part of the year I guess that's pretty good.

No, not quite. There was a person a long time ago here, that said he took a job as a transport driver for a major NASCAR name, I don't think it even paid that much, but was his dream job. Turns out, driving the truck was a very small part of it, and was emptying trash cans and putting up tents, they said they quit shortly after. Note to the wise, if there is an opening, there's probably a good reason for it.

 

I’m sure if you asked one of them, they’d say they made $120k+. Every Driver I ask makes at least $100k these days. The .25% BS factor should always be applied in such cases.

 

To be fair i make 300k......until all of everything about being an O/O comes out then its around 60 low end 100 high end depending on how scuffed or fat my year was. So i aint lieing about how much i make when i say 300k. And they likely arent lieing about 100k or even 120k. The same way as i aint lieing about how i make 300k.

Ain't that the truth. I make half a mil pulling dry van load board freight working 2 days a week and take winters off. And I always get $100/hr. detention after 2.

 

It's not a short season it's a looooong grind. There's 36 points paying races and 2 more non-points events every weekend each year in the cup series. And they only get 2 weekends off in that entire 38 races stretch. It ain't just driving the truck and kicking back in a lawn chair at the track either.

 

I got the same story for another guy that drove NASCAR truck/trailer.

I was also told the trailer is packed to the gills. Start of the year it is the driver's job to take all the team's stuff to the Cat scale. With a hundred dollars for scale fees, the driver has to map out the location in the trailer for all the tools and supplies that get hauled or will be overweight on an axle. It is his responsibility to correctly load and secure the trailer an each venue. If you see all the stuff that comes out of the trailer, that is a big job.

 

Had an opportunity to drive for a major team back several years ago. This ain’t no job for lazy people. You work, all the time. It’s not just driving and dealing with the trailer. You would be surprised at what you will be doing. The truck and trailer will be spotless, you’re going to be working a mop multiple times a day. Then busting tires, filling gas canisters. Setting up the crew tents, maybe even cooking meals. You may be a backup pit man. It’s a lot of work. Get ready for a minimum 15 hour day. Yep, really opened my eyes. At that time, it was a salary job, 95k.
