I know this has been beaten to death people, but its time to try something different...

I spent 7 hours at UNFI in Lancaster Texas waiting to unload and receive paperwork for 5 pallets, identical product, same SKU, no sort and separate needed.

I'm so tired of this, if we as Independents just began by boycotting one company at a time, I honestly believe that we will have an impact.

I know the Mega's will continue to haul into the places we boycott; however, I see enough independents in these places that by withholding out services they would sit up and take notice. It's not that we would be sitting losing money while they were dragged into submission, its simply hitting one company at a time.

I know right now that there is going to be a whole lot of negative responses to this post and yes, you can say whatever you want, but it's time for us to really get our collective heads together and try to create some form of change.

I'm ready for the negative replies but I'm also ready to try and create some unity to hopefully come up with something to stop the insanity.

    AND.... GO.

My company ABF at one time stopped deliveries to UNFI even though it is a big customer. They held all their freight on our yards till they allowed us to drop and hook to an empty and leave. Took a couple of weeks but ABF prevailed. They wanted us to pay lumpers but my company refused, they said our drivers will unload. UNFI said no. Ok then no more deliveries then. Works for a company like mine but as an independent you have no leverage.

I honestly believe that if the independents stuck together, we could accomplish the same... The majority of trucks in there the other night were O/O... Thanks for the reply though.

The only leverage you have is to not book any more UNFI loads. There's one in Atlanta and it's the same story there as yours. They're all like that. It's how they do business. It's why owner operators booking scraps off loadboards are the only ones delivering there. And respect for the carriers that bring in the products they need to distribute is absolutely ZERO.

If you’re truly an “independent” o/o then just stop loading your trailer with their goods. Don’t worry about what anyone else is doing.

Maybe some of the independents you see like getting detention for sitting. Just do your own thing and what makes you happy.

UNFI has been on my no go list for years. Places like Target where I can drop my trailer and leave for 10 hours I love. I know I’ll get an extra $200 to sleep.

Well somewhere along the way the one in Aurora was impacted and the process there has improved 75%... so its achievable, and yep, us poor fools that book scraps from load boards can hopefully influence change, even in a community of "I'm alright Jack'" attitudes.

I hope you didn't take my reply as a negative. I did not mean it that way. Just being honest.

So status quo is the best method of moving forward? Forget about the time for a minute, what about the complete disregard for the dignity of the driver when the restroom door is off the hinges and open to male and female alike to use, shouldn't we all be concerned about our dignity?
eing detention can be useful at times if you're needing o take your 10, but sadly those times don't always mesh up, I would prefer to get in, unload and move on.

If you know the locations of these receivers, tell the broker, or write in the rate con, that you wont accept a load going to that business.

Loading can be an issue at some flatbed places, unloading usually isn't an issue for me, mostly because of where and what I haul.

I just won't book loads at places that take very long, or if I screw up and do because I don’t know them, they're lazy AF or too slow, I leave. Easy
