That part of the lot should be concrete, if it's asphalt then it will get torn up very quickly by trailer tires during the turnaround.

Thick concrete too. Im imagineing some fool weighing 80k+ load turning on thin concrete and cracking it. As its going to be the main turn around its going to see constant heavy traffic. Rebar reinforced, 8 inch thick slab with 4k rebar minimum if you want it to last. 6 inch and 3k is the standard for a drive iirc but with trucks turning on it in a specific place constantly its going to get torn up #### fast. Course that depends on your soil and what kinda loads your going to let in too.

Lowboys with 100k+ machines coming in a lot will destroy even 8" in short order. Crap ground with soft spots and even 24" slabs wont last long. Get an engineer to access the ground and figure out your worst case and assume that will be normal. I.E normal van/reefer trucks? Assume they are all 80k and build for it plus 10% for the yahoos who are overloaded.

I wouldn’t U turn a loaded low bed personally, which is why I suggested two connected isles as a complete drive around

YOU wouldn't. I wouldn't. Most drivers with more then a single braincell wouldn't. See accident forum though. A lot of drivers happily would.

Watch the junction of paving to dirt and concrete to pavement.

Both places tend to develop holes from the constant transition of turning wheels.

A thick base layer of large stone infilled by smaller 'screenings' and compacted by vibratory roller becomes a hard and stable under layer.

Softball sized steel mill slag was popular here in the east and when infilled with screenings will support the landing gear of loaded trailers.

It was also cheap when the mills were working.

Any un-paved area where units constantly turn WILL pothole.

If you have the room a layout like this works great. It helps with the tight turning issue. Keeps overall dust down from moving trucks passing thru and puts them in the proper setup for backing in and pulling out. This is the way our cattle trailer yard was set up back in the 70’s. It is on 3 acres so plenty of room. It does not use the entire 3. Other farm equipment has been left to rust there over the years around the perimeter.

Its a sad state of affairs when you simply got to assume the industry is so full of morons, that if you dont build with them in mind. They will simply destroy everything around them with zero cares or flying ####s to give. Half of them will simply get mad at YOU for not building better heh.

This is the biggest problem with the world. We have to adapt to the morons instead of them adapting to us. In past times we could house them away in a big place in the country to stay clear of us. Then the 1990’s happened and they became celebrated. This is why we have warning labels on everything, have to wear hi viz pp whatever that is just to go to the walmart, auto transmissions, and childproof lids on Tide laundry detergent. AND now the are encouraged to breed.
