Haven't seen this wreck though it's been out two years.
It's pretty easy to see how traffic authorities boo boo-ed this one.

I'm sure the driver stills tells everyone how it was the sign's fault.
Also, a leaf blower would have probably made that sweep up job a lot easier.The_vett and Flat Earth Trucker Thank this. -
I'm thinking ADOT or the city of Phoenix is at least partially responsible for this wreck since it looks like the sign board was being towed by the pickup truck waiting at the bottom of the on ramp.
-
I was trying to figure that out when I watched it as it looked like there was a vehicle with flashing lights on the ramp, but thought I was just seeing wrong since they weren't trying to actively block the lane in any way.The_vett and Flat Earth Trucker Thank this.

So the sign board was illuminating or not? I couldn't tell if was flashing any arrow/diamonds. Seems like everyone was dodging it the last minute too. Doesn't seem like crash vehicle reacted at all either. Lots wrong with this.

It looks to me like the pickup truck towing the sign board somehow disconnected from the hitch and ended up in the lane such as it was.
It also appears that the sign board is not showing any display since vehicles come close to the sign board trailer only veering away with feet to spare.
In that situation, I would have positioned my truck against the flow of traffic and prayed to God for the quick arrival of police.TurkeyCreekJackJohnson, Tall Mike, Suspect Zero and 1 other person Thank this. -
Looks like they were trying to warn/tell about a danger that traffic would be coming to.......and something (like the sign) didn't work. BUT it still was a danger itself.....this is just very wrong.

I agree that something happened that caused the trailer to come loose from the pickup truck. Be it that he didn't get it hooked up completely or something broke and released the trailer. BUT.... if this is the case, where's the safety chains??? Did he fail to hook them up or were the safety chains missing as well? If chains had been connected, he could have at least gotten it off the road.

Looks like trailer was sitting dark. Light board was not on. But it had a big yellow reflective warning chevron on the back and after around a 100 vehicles steered around it with no problem that car became that “one guy”. Even if a cop car with lights flashing was behind it blocking the lane that car still would have been that “one guy”

That one guy would probably me, wondering what the flashing lights on the side of the road are. I don't slow down just look. Seems to me the dick who left the trailer in the middle of the motorway in the dark, is at greatest fault. Just because it has a reflector doesn't mean its good. The ones on the back of my truck are dull as.The_vett and Flat Earth Trucker Thank this.
