Very well said. I dont have a problem with women in the trucking industry. I am glad to see women in trucking. My last employment, we had a lady of the opposite race as me and she was one of my best friends at work. She is a good driver. A careful driver. She has a good personality and she has a good sense of humor. She is easy to be around. She eventually became a trainer and she trains both male and female as well as any race.
But, Aint no way, not even a remote chance that I would train a female nor would I be trained by a female... as BDP said: in "This day n time". People are too sensitive. I try to be a very respectful person and I try to treat people like they treat me.. both good and bad. But you gotta be careful what you say and be careful of your actions as some people are very sensitive and too many people are looking for a good lawsuit today. Just like on this very forum, no matter what you say, somebody is gonna take issue with it. I'm quite sure some are gonna take issue with this very post. And I aint gonna put myself in that situation, alone with a female, all day long (and certainly not over night), and have myself caught up in some nonsense of taking something innocent the wrong way.
The bottom line is if I were a trainer and I had to train a female, I would relinquish my trainer status and if I applied to a company and they assigned me a female trainer, my stuff would never leave my pickup truck. I'd go right back home.
I have no problem with women in trucking and I am not a sexist. But I aint going to put myself in that position.
I don't think women should be in men's locker rooms and I dont think men should be in women's sports or in women's restrooms.
Respectfully.......
Fortunately, I am retired and this is just another issue within the trucking industry today, that I don't have to worry with any more.D.Tibbitt, broke down plumber, kemosabi49 and 5 others Thank this. -
