Unless I've missed something here, I have yet to see where ANY OF YOU, have shown, or quoted actual law statutes in either the dot handbook, or other wise, where it is illegal to carry either a tazer or a stun gun in your truck.
While yes, its been many years since i've driven the bigh rig (15 yrs) I've chosen to go back to school, get recertifide & climb back up into it again. And like way back when, hell yeah, I carried both a 9mm & and sawed off 12 guage in my bunk, and that is where they stayed, well out of reach of the driver's door.
Now, with all of this BS going on about drivers being able to protect themselves while out on the road is completely idiotic and political BS, one must, unfortunately go along with following the laws. However, when laws are written, there is almost ALWAYS room for one to bend these laws, especially when it comes to self preservation. And I for one, unless folks can show me, word for word, statue to statute, I will NOT be out there on that road unprotected. I have both, a Taser M26C witch packs a 50k volt of stopping power as well as Stun Master 775,000 volt stun gun, both of which will encompany me every time I step into my truck. I will NOT be out there in that crazy jungle without some form of protection so that I can return home to my family, in one piece.

It varies from state to state...JUST LIKE WITH FIREARMS! While most states won't give you any problems carrying one, SOME states treat tasers no differently than firearms. Hell, in Illinois, you have to have a FOID, undergo a background check, the seller must maintain a record of the sale for 10 years, and the 24 hour waiting period still applies as if you were buying a long gun.
In other words, you STILL need to check state & local laws for any jurisdiction you plan to travel through, no different than if you were carrying a firearm. -
Are you really able to keep up with state and city law everywhere you go? In New York City, for example, its illegal to have a gun IF YOU STOP...if you drive straight through on i95 from CT to NJ...its fine...
If you get caught with a stun gun in MI, NJ, NY, RI, WI, HI, MA, or CANADA (spelled c eh? n eh? d eh?), you will go to JAIL.
You could have done a simple google search and found this for yourself, instead of insisting that other people do it for you. You're the one that doesnt agree.
This site shows the actual text of laws in various states banning stun guns: http://www.bigbearacademy.com/stun-gun-laws.html
Incase you're not capable of clicking that link, here is the law for it in michigan,
Yes, you can get away with carrying it without getting caught. But what if you're in michigan, and use it, and now you're a felon? What if the guy you used it on had a pace maker, and you killed him?
I would rather die than go to prison for the rest of my life, to be honest.
I also point out that you can kill people with your bare hands. It's even possible to use your chi to kill people without touching them. It is still legal to learn the martial arts, and once you learn them...who is going to take them away?
And people high on PCP have been well known to simply rip the wires from the tazer off them, without being affected at all...and whats keeping them from taking it and using it on you?
Also, it is spelled which, not witch. Witches do not exist. And it's recertified, not recertifide. And a tazer IS a stun gun. And its a big rig, not a bigh rig. "& and" is not proper grammar, it is like saying "and and". It's also years, not yrs. -
now this has been tosed around every sinch i stated driving an im older then dirt and every time the subject comes up you get a different story along with a #### spelling lesson as if you cared every body is an expert but fo some reason they can't read.
the reason you don't see any laws about guns in a truck is because there arent any now there in fact use to be but that law was repealed in 1968 and there still arguing about it today and you can even look it up on the internet but every one is an expert.
now as far as a tazer is concearned different laws apply and they vary from state to state but in all fairness i don't no of any state where there legal to carry.
i go by federal law and the US CONSTATUTION and it has been aproved by the US SUPREAM COURT and that is good enough foe me and yes i carry and i always have, have i had to use it ? as a matter of fact twice and it was ruled justified and i wasent required to spell correctly imagine that.
although if you run the east coast i would give you a word of caution , don't get caught they could care less what the law is they seem to make up there own and some how get away with it but in most cases there is no problem with a gun in a truck as long as your not doing somthing stupid with it and like i said a tazor i cant say i nevere use them.
best of luck to you southernpride

I havent read through the intire thread, just 1st and last page, but has anyone thought of the idea of NOT concealing your gun???? You donot need a permit to carry a gun if it is NOT concealed in anything with wheels, so long as its unloaded!!
-
The way I always figured, if the company is going to search my truck to find a gun, I dont need to be driving for them anyway. Even when I thought that dot banned guns in trucks, i carried. unless you run canada, more then likely if a gun is hid well enough no ones will find it. unless you gotta use it. and if i gotta use it, don't really matter what anyone else thinks about it after the factSheepDog Thanks this. -
There is NO federal regulation prohibiting firearms in trucks. If you think there is one, spend some time searching for it and be sure to post it if you find it. I won't hold my breath, though, because you can't find something that doesn't exist.
Again, that varies from state to state, and even city to city. If you are going to arm yourself, you need to put forth the effort to learn the laws regarding firearm possession for every jurisdiction you will pass through.
wouldn't be "opencarry.org", would it?

I realize this thread is pretty long and some of the posts are somewhat repetitious, but you really owe it to yourself to read them all, and just gloss over those that are repetitions.
There's a lot of good, useful information contained herein. It'd be a shame to miss it. Even if you don't plan to carry a firearm in a Big truck, you never know when the subject might come up, --- and you'll know the correct answers and procedures which could benefit someone else. -
I run canada! That's exactly why i dont carry. Werner generally doesn't search trucks, but im going to be a trainer soon...dont need any students getting scared and callin me in. But it is against policy and they CAN search.
I think it was opencarry.org but my bfree wifi was being slow so i couldnt check to see... Anyway, you are right. But imagine a society where everyone has a .44 obviously strapped to their waist. Who would be stupid enough to commit a crime then?
Anyway, i intend to get a CCW and it would be so cool to do exactly what you described...act like im reaching for my wallet, but oh ####, thats not a wallet! -
Don't need no stinkin' gun...
One good truckstop-food-fueled-fart will kill anyone!
RAILSPLITTER Thanks this.
