CSA2010 goes into affect Nov 2010. The only place I have heard is installing sniffers is in cali, but havent seen them yet. i know that at the end of this year unless its changed, "weed burner exhuast" wont be legal to run in cali. as for inspects, its really starting to come down to the company your with and their saferstat score. in 3 yrs Ive had 51 inspections, passed every single one of them. Now when i drove for the last company for a yr and 8 mths, I got my last inspect just before I left them, that was the only one I got while with them, but their saferstat score is 23, the companies before that, 95+, and got all 50 inspects in 1 yrs time, but since I ran legal, I passed them all and still do to this day. I get my miles and I make money. This crap shoot of running 20 hrs a day and sleeping for 4 and running as many as 5 logs, to me, just not worth it. i like to keep my money and my freedom.

i thought the day for running illegal would some day come to an end, too many lawyers in this country, and safety too had a huge bearing on this. my last company i drove for , freymiller (1990-1995), it did seem like i was starting to get check more frequently on my logs and inspections,,,but so was everyone eles it seemed.. every other time i want through banning, i got could allmost quarantee a check, though they did not seem to0 hard on me there., acted fairly professional.. at the last of my driving in 95, illinois was starting to pull trucks over on i55 southbound toward st louis, and that was new .....
well, i cannot drive at the moment with 5 outstanding tickets,,,but i have a interview with a large trucking company in phoenix, to work nights in the office in operations, cover person...keep track of drivers, qualcalm, etc.....pay is not great..but can be increased i quess....talked to one driver there tonight, he said he did office work,,hated it, and was glad to be on the road...hopefully i can land the job, the guy said prior work experince was not totally neccessary...though i believe my 15 yrs experiece may help as a driver...sort of know what a driver faces on a daily basis. -
Can I borrow a shovel? Its getting deeper.outerspacehillbilly Thanks this.

I have been pulled over on I 70 in Kansas the last two times thru there (in 3 weeks) Had a level 2 done and sent on my way. Run legal, log legal and don't drive junk and you should never have any problems. Thanks D.O.T ,those inspections do nothing but help my already great safety rating for CSA 2010.

I had been using DDL for a few years before the new rules and the whole time since the 10/14. I use it to back up my log book and don't waste the ink to print out copies! Thats just too much cash going to something not needed! When the DOT reach for the book I just casually tell them that I use Drivers Daily Log to back up and check my log and they usually just flip through it but it's usually the same they used to do. Most of the DOT cops pretty much know how long it takes to get anywhere within 500 miles of that scale house and then some!
That $75 I spent on DDL is one of the best investments I've ever done! Never gotten written up by the company and I've never gotten a log book ticket in my total 32 years of driving but since DDL life got so much easier especially when trip planning to places I've never been! That and a good truck routing program put paper work and other problems in the black column! Not to mention that the old IBM from early 92 helped lots! -
DDL...is that a software program for logging? give me a link to it.....thanks ron

So, you have to power up your laptop every time you need to note something in your log? In my mind, I picture that as being a real pain.
Is it not as bad as I imagine, or do the advantages just outweigh the hassle? -
Depends on if you think writing on a paper log is more of a pain than opening your laptop. I think DDL works great (the website is not so great) No mistakes no DOT hassles.

I have 14 days left on my trail of DDL and it seems like a good investment, it caught a mistake I made with my addition, I'm usually good with that so I don't know if if I was getting to dependent on it or what
Right now I'm just using it to transfer over to the paper log but will be printing it as soon as I remember to stop and actually pick up paper at a walmart or something ( I keep forgetting every time I stop not use to having to buy paper
)
