23 trailer tires blowing out while running is too many. Take the forked end of a hammer and get used to testing those tires and get a truck tire guage >120psi to double-test questionable tires. I also fill tires up on my own if I have to (Schneider considers this dangerous due to possible blowouts)

    <60psi is considered flat.
I run 110/100 where Schneider's policy has been 100/90 -but I think they bumped that up.

With less O/Os it seems the tires are becoming more of a problem. =People are not getting the tires fixed/replaced. When I first started with Schneider it was worse, then you could hardly find a bad tire, now ever 2nd-3rd empty may have a tire issue -still better than when I started by 2x-3x.

GBOC even has a set of tires out front to distinguish bad tires from good. What they need is 3 tires with a chained hammer. 1 full, 1 70psi, and 1 flat. A warm tire is easy to tell if flat, but a frozen one can be hard to tell = use air guage.

I have to question this a bit...Since October 09 I've had exactly 2 trailer tires that had to be changed...One was at Laredo, and it was'nt that bad a tire, the other was at Indy....the trailer had an old drive tire on it...

My tractor is an 07 Freightliner, and other than bad batteries and a bad starter that were changed during a PM, it's been trouble free in 45,000 miles...

Being that its been about 14 months since ive posted on this topic last im now up 39 blowouts and a grand total of 54 tires having to be replaced be it for blow out or octagon or seeing cords. I take a hammer to all my tires every day and every different trl, but if it knocks normal im not checking the air pressure. Plus the one truck i had for almost a year and it had them stupid zipper hub caps on it that once you open them youll never get it closed so checking air pressure on them you cant do.

Im now on my 14th tractor switch in just over 2 years. Only 3 where for upgrading to a better tractor.

Overall SNI is a good company to work for, my 2 biggest gripes are not allowing pets which i understand the reason why they dont. But 2nd is maint, you have to wait at min 3-5 days to get any sort of work done to your truck unless its something express bay can fix which isnt a hole lot. Which normally mean you have to use a loner truck while your truck is getting fixed. so unless you transfer ALL your stuff into the loner truck and your not able to pick your normal truck back up within 5 days they will use your normal truck as a loner for someone else. so its a catch 22. Do you transfer all your stuff or risk it getting taken by your truck being loaned out.

just finished training in Dallas May 21, per-diem is now mandatory for new-hires first quarter of employment, no exceptions. You may opt out after 90 days

I think this Driver is full of crap. I just resigned from schneider and it is the worst company to drive for. They leave you stranded and dont care when u get fixed and when u get frieght.Ill givee you what my DBL said to me when i had concerns about my safety n my tractor. It was 5 pm and she said to me unfortunately its time for me to go home my day is done . Call me tomorrow to talk. This statement told me everything i needed to know about the Company. Also if you have a concern they will cancell you load and want to bring you to ur oc to chat about it. She tried that on me n i said no i need to make money. She told me i will not get any loads untill we chat live. I said to her maybe this job isnt for me with all this bull go n on. She said what do u mean and i explained to her all the issues i have. Calling for help n being on hold for 45 minutes. Seriousl;y 45 minutes is unexceptBLE. All they care about is there computer systems and how great they think they r with technology. This Company is like the military hurry up n wait. I tried real hard to deal with there crap and could not any longer. I told my DBL i want to do the rite thing and resign so tell me what i need to do. I said I was go n to take the truck to the yard i leave it at when im home. She said u have to come to the Carlisle Operating Center. I said ok so then u will get me home. She said no not schnieders responsibility. WoW i said to her. I was over 4 hrs away from my home. I told her i was go n to the yard. She said i could not n come to the oc so we can talk. Done that before. Any how i no longer am there they dont treat u good at all. They dont care if u drive or not. I saat for 2 days with no frieght and ask y n they never answered me. I woulkd not ever recomend this company . I will do anything to make sure thjey would not get another driver ever.

I am not "pro" any company. All have good and bad.
A question though, did you try going over her head? What you are saying has never happened to me except once. And that was caused by the weekend crew.
We all have times we would like to say screw it, and just go home, I know.
It sounds like you had the DBL from hell.
I do not know her name, and do not care to. But I have heard drivers talk about a "her" from Carlisle, rude, crude, and not so bright on "her" part.:biggrin_2556:

I have heard the same thing.

I'll give you an abbreviated version of an experience I had recently. I had a real question about quarterly bonus' and why I missed mine last quarter. I thought I had a case. Not only did my DBL listen, but the OC manager took time to call me and discuss it, not once, but three times. In the end, I discovered I erred in procedure and my own record-keeping and I didn't get the bonus. But the time taken by management was appreciated.

I am out of Charlotte, by the way. My miles have been decent, though the last week and a half haven't been very good. But you know what? That's the way it is.

One's experiences with any company will differ from someone elses. I'll stay with what I've got until I quit OTR.

    Good luck!
