    Hello All,
I'm having a hard time deciding which GPS model to go with. Both have great options, and their right around the same price rang. Any suggestions, or recommendations would be very helpful. Thank you in advance! :biggrin_25525:

Thank you very much! Do you carry the TND 700?

I am the Lead Beta tester for Rand McNally.

I do not try to point anyone in any direction for an GPS. It is a personal choice. But, I am available if you have questions. E-Mail is a good way to contact me.

    Thanks,
    Mark

In addition to the DieselBoss website you can also check here:

    http://www.navigatethefacts.com

It may help with your decision.

Another good resource is to ask other truckers. Ask them what model they use, and what they like/dislike about it.

If you have any questions about the Cobra model, feel free to email me at 7700PRO@cobra.com

I am partial to the Rand McNally TND700 myself, but because I have one and had very few issues at all. It works great for me.

I looked at the COBRA site and have no experience with them but the screen size is SAME as on the RM unit. just saying...

Also, it might be just me but as a trucker what is the benefit of red light and speed zone camera info?? I know what they are and pretty much now you would just assume most lights have cameras and if we are cautious enough on our speed and watching the lights it shouldn't be an issue. just my opinion...

Anyways good luck with your decision. every one you meet is going to be partial to the unit they have.

I have a cobra and it doesn't route you if you or your destination is in an area with truck restrictions. Need to power the gps off and back on to chose car mode but then you get no truck POI info. The rm seems to have an override button. And it has lane assist which the. cobra does not. Few times it routes you to take an exit and get back on the highway for no reason. I haven't tried the RM but lane assist would be nice, especially in the socal area.

The RM TND units do the same thing.

No override for this, that I am aware of. You can try to use the "car" mode, but it may not work.

The TND will do this sometimes as well.

according to the features I see at the truck stops, it says "car mode at the touch of a button" car mode for the cobra requires powering the unit off then back on again. Not to mention car mode with the cobra disables all the truck down POIs.

maybe cc194217 can chime in on this?
