Glad all these fuel costs nolonger bother me. On average last year around this time I remember running to Michigan paying $3.95 per gallon. Now its $7.20 per gallon nearly double. Its crazy how one year made a difference and rates still haven't move up much to keep up with the diesel costs. Selling my truck was the best choice I made the headaches are over. Those planning on Oct. 1st and parking their trucks, hopefully its workout.

Yet we are building one right now in Texas.
America First Refining (AFR) facility planned at the Port of Brownsville. It is designed as a roughly 168,000-barrel-per-day plant to process U.S.
Company leadership has targeted mechanical completion in late 2028, with fuel sales and the first full year of operations in 2029.

We also refine about 60-65 percent of our oil with the rest being imported. We only import about 1.5 million barrels per day of fuel and the rest we make.

Not sure what numbers you are looking at but they do not look right. Also from earlier I guess we do make enough fuel to supply the USA without Importing if we shut off exports. Here is the numbers below.

    Product
    U.S. production (refiner + blender)
    U.S. consumption (product supplied)
    Difference

    Finished gasoline
    ~9.4–9.8 million b/d
    ~8.8–9.0 million b/d
    Surplus

    Distillate (diesel/heating oil)
    ~5.1–5.3 million b/d
    ~3.6–3.8 million b/d
    Large surplus

    Jet fuel
    ~1.9–2.0 million b/d
    ~1.7–1.8 million b/d
    Small surplus

    Total petroleum products
    Higher than consumption
    ~20.5 million b/d
    Net exporter of products

Yes I said it was from 2025 not with today’s inflated prices. Just the same as I inflated the salary to the Higher end of the IRAN people not the lower tier, because it was so sad to see them get that much of a difference.
1.44 billion Iranian rials (IRR) is equal to approximately $1,047.58 USD per year based on the current market exchange rate. That is the Median income according to what I have found.

I watched it but didn't see any more of his videos. I'll check him out sometime when I get bored. I don't watch too many videos like that unless someone sends them to me. I'm sure he is funny.

My Dad had 19-24 percent bonds when I was a child, he invested in some great bonds. I can remember doing the math on it and we lived off of just interest and our military checks we got from him being retired from the Navy for 25 years. We did not buy anything without us absolutely needing it. Hell I can remember our first color TV and I can remember all our friends having Color TV for years before we got one. That man did not waste a penny on himself other than a few drinks every once in a while. I got hand-downs the whole time until I was a teen as well. But he had more money than almost everyone else in our neighborhood.

Gas was not that cheap when I was younger but it was around .60 - .70's. a gallon.

You do understand that bonds paid that well because interest rates were astronomically high? And that interest rates were high in large part to the various oil embargoes of the 70's and keeping interest rates low for too long? Not to mention that back then living was cheap and luxuries were expensive. Now luxuries are cheap and living is expensive.

That niche refinery is still in design phase like my time travel machine :)

Yet even when it comes to fruition..will not supply the US with anything. Unless things change and they find a way to be more profitable by selling their finished products domestically.

“The new America First Refining plant planned for the Port of Brownsville, Texas, is expected to export its refined fuel products primarily to India.”

“The last full-conversion (grassroots) major petroleum refinery built from scratch with significant downstream unit capacity in the United States is Marathon Petroleum’s facility in Garyville, Louisiana, which came online in 1977 (with construction initiated by ECOL in 1976).

Lastly, they can’t just stop exporting because on paper we refine enough for our country. We’re dependent upon imported refined fuel.

    The 60’s were the best!

My parents closed on their first house in 1965 (on my first birthday). They paid $5k for a 3 bedroom 1 bath (worth $600k today) interest rates around that time were 5% +/-.

Lol, back when owning 2 cars in the household was considered well off I suppose.

We had one good car and a junker dad was always working on, lol.

Was a good era to grow up in.

    “
    • The 1960s and 1970s: Two-car ownership accelerated as more women entered the workforce and cities expanded further outward. By 1960, about 22% of households had multiple vehicles, a number that grew rapidly in subsequent decades.”

Before my dad got his job at the power company he was a Sears appliance/tv repairman. While we did get a color tv early on they were always “fixer upper” models that customers discarded…ones you constantly had to hit on the side to get the picture to stop rolling, lol.

Unfortunately the whole “I can fix that” stuck with him for years. The man died with a tv antenna still on his roof..refused cable tv even on an engineers salary from the power company.
