Somebody really looking to make a positive change in their life will not be affected by any of that. A lot of people out here, truck drivers included, allow themselves to get stressed and worked up into an absolute frenzy over nothing. So traffic is bad and other drivers are inconsiderate, boo fricken hoo.. Is that all you got?snowlauncher Thanks this.

I agree. People shouldn't assume because someone is felon that they have a violent temper or short fuse.rollin coal Thanks this.

That’s probably going to be the most damning thing for you, right there. I don’t know if somebody already brought this up or not - I skimmed through the topic rather than reading all of the posts, so forgive me if I’m rehashing something which has already been pointed out. Now I’ve heard of old hands who managed to do so before their state began participating in the NDR who managed to with multiple DUIs to their claim, but we’re talking people who’d gotten them before I )and probably you) were even born.
Per 49 CFR § 383.51, you are disqualified for life from operating a CMV.
Anecdotally, I know three people with multiple DUIs who tried getting around it. All three were denied. There is a relief of disability in place, but from my understanding, it’s a bit of a unicorn.Last edited: Sep 23, 2026

Agreed. A driver smashed my mirror pulling out of a space, tried to leave the scene, said the damage was already there, tried to fix it himself and then called me a douchebag.fromAtoZ Thanks this.
