Has this been covered? I hear talk of a trucker strike,,by gar, that takes me back. (1978-1979) For someone who is horribly out of the loop, but still concerned, how can you folks pay a record amount for fuel, and not even a hiccup? Pass it along to the consumer? Geez, sure could use a leader in this mess. Chinatown maybe? To be clear, as a retired person, I don't use a lot of fuel( gas), but I see weekly, the prices of food and services increasing, and again, nothing? Okay, the strike in '78 did little for our cause, but we are talking .75/gal. went up to $1.49, still a hefty increase then, but surely nothing like today. What that strike did, was unify us truck drivers, we all had the same cause, it showed we actually had a voice, but this seems like a losing battle. What's it going to take for a meltdown? No fuel at all at the pump? Odd how this country goes from one catastrophe to the next, with little insight to the future. I'm 71, had a great life with trucking, it provided everything I wanted in life, but today, I don't think I'd even bother. What say ye?

Maybe rates will bump up on Oct the 1st because of the "strike", and I'll go to work that day. Maybe....

Got a phone call yesterday from a friend who is outside the trucking industry, wanted to know if what he was hearing about a truckers strike was true, I guess the general public are listening too….

Yes, let's make ourselves a political scapegoat. Once the infrastructure and technology is closer to ready for autonomous driving they will bring this up too.

Honestly, fuel prices suck right now. That said im also not sure why anyone is suprised. We have had several major surges in fuel prices since obum and historically this is not the first nor will it be the last time this happens so long as we rely on forign oil often from at best unfriendly or outright bostile countries and refuse to extract our own and build modern refinerys to handle that type of oil. Frankly even if trump hadnt caused it, it would have been someone or something else eventually.

Me personally i always do my budget assumeing fuel prices can triple at any point and i have enough cards in my back pocket that shy of a complete economic collapse and my customers drying up ill be fine. Other companys or shoestrings....well good luck i guess

What a bunch of hot air. Company drivers can't strike. Foreign driver are uninterested. The only ones that can are independent drivers. From what I see they are in a vast minority. Only thing that'll bring down fuel is a conclusion to the war. I don't see how a trucking strike will get all combatants to come to terms

I was going to say, I don't even understand who exactly this strike would be appealing to. Is there any power that can unilaterally lower diesel prices?

I agree. I'd like to add, that although company drivers don't pay for the fuel directly, it still has a negative effect on all of our industry. Not to mention that ultimately the costs are passed down to the consumers. It seems like the American public is resigned to griping about it but they don't feel like they can change anything for the better at the ballot box this November, or any November, for that matter.
I feel like most people I know. It's one big sh*te sandwich and we all gotta take a bite no matter how bad it tastes.
