Am I crazy or are people starting to drive slower across the board? If so, is it due to higher fuel prices?
My cruise is always set to 64. I'm pretty sure I've gone an entire day without passing anyone at least once, but lately it seems like I'm going around much more often than normal.
Has anybody else noticed this? I was going south on 81 today and all day long there were guys doing 60-62.
Is the price of fuel causing people to slow down?

That’s what I’ve been doing, about 1300 rpm’s. Been getting about 7mpg. But I’m in the communist state of 55.TheLoadOut, Flat Earth Trucker, OLDSKOOLERnWV and 5 others Thank this.

I'm slow poke anyhow, usually run bout 66-67mph..
Mainly just slow'n on the hills, let'n her scrub off a few going up try'n not to boost more than 20psi.
Other than that business as usual..hope not dumb twucker, TheLoadOut, Sons Hero and 4 others Thank this. -

In my case i drive like i always have. But im now taking 85500-90,000 to make up for the added fuel cost and my truck has issues staying at much above 64 (usually closer to 50-55 due to the weight. fuel milage is the same 5.6 it always is going from nebraska to colorado. That said a lot of trucks have been driving worse and the drivers vastly nasiter and more agressive from what ive seen, but the somewhat smart ones are slowing down to save fuel.hope not dumb twucker, TheLoadOut, Trucker61016 and 3 others Thank this.

I don't understand the thinking.
If I need to slow down because fuel prices are high, I'm not charging enough.
No, I haven't slowed down.Crude Truckin', Old_n_gray, Cdemars316 and 12 others Thank this. -

What's funny is my t680 gets noticeably worse mileage at 62 than it does at 64, and that's the same truck I keep overtaking.TheLoadOut and Trucker61016 Thank this.

Everything seems normal to me. The drivers that drive slower do so whether fuel is 6 dollars per gallon or 3 dollars per gallon. I'm a company guy in truck governed at 68. I always go 65, because I can keep that consistent speed longer than I can 68, and I prefer to isolate myself on the road. Me personally, for the sake of hauling general freight, I don't think there's a truck with a sweet spot above 65. I think it's all a matter of preference. People operate based on comfort level.

I'm the same way. 68 is not enough of a boost to make a difference on my check, and it still takes longer than I'd like to pass.Trucker61016 Thanks this.
