I run a GE window unit & jump my reefer to cont charge my batteries. Works great. I set it up in the sleeper, but would be cool to have some window mounts made so it sits into the window. I've seen this before, just not sure where to start on having someone build one.

couple of things here in my thread. Though you'd have to be the DIYer.

Hell yea bro. I like that one the other guy made on page 6. I can get that built no problem. I think drain will be outside too. Sweet!
Tug Toy and Wasted Thyme Thank this. -
I think it would be nice to get this unit+ 4 deep cycle battery.

The question is... what happens when you need parts for that honda?
-
I've seen a driver do that. The generator was mounted behind the sleeper on the frame, small window unit was in the passenger window with duct taped cardboard and some wood and straps. He would just mount it and remove it. Just ran an extension cord. That's cheaper than idling or running an APU at .75-1.0 gal an hour!

Buy a used one for parts?
-
APU’s use less than 1/4 a gallon per hour….

When the AC compressor is running nearly all the time, it's using more in an un-insulated cab. I don't know how much exactly but I had the curtains closed, windows covered and at 110 deg Arizona, it actually shut off because it overheated.
The TriPac brochure explicitly caveats: "Fuel consumption will vary based on ambient temperature and tractor cab insulation characteristics" — acknowledging that insulation is a major variable, without saying what they used.nikmirbre Thanks this.
