Thats drivers lounge BS. Lease and company are the same but May relies on the O/O heavily to get the freight moved in a timely manor. There slow #$$ trucks can't do it so the need the speed of the O/O. I have a friend who is an O/O there and he gets 3500 or better every week. 75% of which is saving loads or running freight that would never make it at 60mph.

Hey I am considering hiring on with May out of Phoenix, what is your experience? Thank you.

JML, my buddy showed up at May for orientation. He made it 15 minutes, he was the ONLY person that showed up. He said the guy was a total prick, during the 45 alley dock test, he said to use as many pull-ups as you need and after the 2nd pull-up the guy came to the truck door and yelled, "set the parking break and GET OUT OF THE TRUCK NOW." My friend said the guy was lucky not to be popped in the face for the way the May guy spoke to him. Liz is great, I can tell you this, if I get the offer to go May this week they will find that I am going with a smaller more family orientated company. I will also telly you this, my friend said the guy from May asked how he had heard about May and made the decision to go with them and he said, "well during school we had lunch at a truck stop, I talked to 2 May drivers and 1 who had been there for 6 month and the driver said I would definitely go with May." The guy from May said, "REALLY" almost surprised of positive feedback from a driver. Send me a PM if you want more info. I will also tried to contact a few of the May drivers on here and never heard back, the company I am going with I contacted 3 drivers and now am friends with all 3. I have emailed, text and talked to all of them on the phone, also look at the May threads under DAC http://www.thetruckersreport.com/truckingindustryforum/may-trucking/ and they have not posted or responded to anything in 2 days. The company I picked has postings daily sometime even hourly.

Yes I worked for May Trucking, Phx. They were never rude, never. As far as driving ability, yes if you claim to be a driver, they expect to be able to drive. There lot has plenty of room.
Orientation was 3 days they put you in a clean motel, It was uneventful. Meaning normal safety vid's, paperwork, etc.... When the safety guy he explained what he wanted in the drive portion, whuch was as I recall pretrip the tractor and hook up to trailer # whatever, and pretrip it during which time he stood off to the side quietly and watched. We went for a drive, when we came back into the yard he told where he wanted the trailer back in and dropped and were he wanted the tractor near the building. I was no big deal the safety guy was not mean or obnoxious, but they may reflect how you treat them.
The reasons I left May was because they wanted me to run in areas I don't want to run ( Like I tell drivers that complain about running CA, You always have a choice, Always. Quit crying do your job or change it), and stay out longer than I wanted to stay out. I don't want to work weekends, and I like to be able to drop by the house when it's in route.
May pays you after your load is delivered, So if you deliver 4 loads in a week you will get paid 4 times on the Com-Check account. They did not have direct deposit then which was a major pain in the ###. I always had to make sure the wife had com-cheks so she could cash them at the local truck stop.
They had good equipment as far as I can tell. Everything I drove for them was in good shape. The trailer were kind of marginal and never washed. I drove alot of different tractors there, Pete's, Volvo's mostly as part of what they had me doing besides LA Loop, was retrieving abandoned equipment, or picking up tractors from drivers whom no longer were employed. The only part of that which sucked was abit to much of the big grey dog.
Any how as far as otr jobs there not bad, but they don't take s&% either, you will get back what you put in.Kabar Thanks this. -
Not likely, Like driving I was here long before you and I'll be here long after your gone. And yes I love poking people and seeing how they react
