Don't threaten me with a good time!
But the co Im leased to is flatbed only freight. I can't even run a stepdeck.
Btw, I haven't kept up. How is your truck running?Big Road Skateboard, CAXPT, Feedman and 6 others Thank this. -
Just purely speculating here, maybe I should just keep my trap shut. It's one fuel stop right..?
@Long FLD post a while back that fuel haulers got a exemption from hours of service. I should of probably took the time to read thru it but hey, it ain't pertain to me..
Why the exemption?
My feeble mind goes to shortages..
Again, just a guess..Big Road Skateboard, CAXPT, Feedman and 8 others Thank this. -
I’m thinking declared state of emergency…

The Federal exemption that goes until the end of the year is a little convoluted. You can run 16 hours in a 24 hour period. If you go home and go off duty you have to have 8 hours off, if you sleep in the truck you need 6 hours logged in the sleeper berth. Here in Nebraska we have a full HOS waiver until Nov 18th and a 10% weight tolerance.
In simple terms, it’s not good and will probably get worse. For gas, there are only two grades. V grade is 83 octane and A grade is 91 octane. Every type of gas is combination of those and ethanol. Without V grade you can’t do much. Just around here there are 4 terminals out of V grade and the ones that have it have the suppliers on allocations. Diesel is hit or miss right now. Council Bluffs ran out yesterday and not expecting any until Sunday. Omaha will be running out this morning and not expecting any until Sunday afternoon. Not sure what’s going on in Lincoln. I know Geneva is either low or will be out today.
We just end up hauling it farther and sitting in longer lines. I loaded diesel last night in Omaha and I’m dropping it right now about 5 miles from a terminal that currently doesn’t have diesel. My next load comes from a terminal that has suppliers on tight allocations, so I’ll either get loaded or it’s shut off for the day depending on how many trucks have been there to pull off the supplier I need.
Corporations are eating the cost. Last weekend we were hauling straight 91 octane premium to Costco and dumping it into their regular 87 octane tanks just so they didn’t have to say they didn’t have gas. They were probably losing about $7k per load and just guessing on around 4-5 loads to each location per day until Omaha got V grade back. Casey’s was doing the same thing in the Omaha area.Last edited: Oct 24, 2026
