hey pumpkindrvr, I am in the process of getting on with groendyke. This will be my first tank job, but I have 2 years driving experience. They said we would be paid a percentage not by mile. If I can pull off 800-1000 a week b4 tax that would be great, but is that possible? Also they said I would run (local) 500 mile radius hauling asphalt till october then swich over to chemical, an go OTR. Do you know anything about the asphalt side of it? An also are you still getting good home time being OTR? What about the trucks? I see this yard has alot of eagles, which I like, but are they taken care of? What about idle policy? Or what are their trucks governed at? Sorry so many q/a, but can really find anyone else her that works for them!!

I'll have to look at the old paystubs when I get home. I'll post the numbers some time over the weekend.

Best of luck! Keep us updated  They were pretty good to work for as a whole, just wasn't the money I was told to expect.

Home time is good, out a month then a week off. Could be home more if i didn't live so far from terminal. Don't know anything about asphalt. I do know the happiest drivers are the ones on milage pay like me. Percentage drivers do a lot of emty running. And of course if your TM/dispachers have their act together, it makes all the difference in the world. I consider myself very luck in that department. If I need to be home for something, I know I will be. Other drivers I talk to say it is always a fight to get home when they need to. The newer trucks are always having problems and in the shops. I have an older one and few issues. In the last year, only shop time was for a/c compresser replacement.

They always complain about idle time. They want it at 34%. Ya right. My boss says just do what you can to keep it down. So I do what I can. No idling for no reason, but if I'm too hot or cold, the truck runs. I have seen drivers sitting in the break rooms watching tv while their truck is running.
