Just read the OP' first message... the way I read his DAC, he had some sort of "incident," otherwise the company would've listed an "accident" by number. They went to the trouble of putting "unsatisfactory safety record" down on the DAC, so you know they would've slapped a "1" in there on at least one of the "Number of accidents..." lines if they knew they could get away with it.

To the OP: the one hand gave good advice, apply to companies that don't use DAC. Start by phoning companies, then slip in a question like: "How long does it take for you to run a DAC or background check?" Sometimes, the recruiter will tell you right then, "We don't use DAC."

I recall that a recruiter from an outfit named Midwest Continental told me straight up, "We don't use DAC." Don't know whether they're still around, but there are other companies that are the same way, they don't waste time or money with that cheesy DAC system.

This whole DAC system is a real problem with many drivers... the sooner it goes the way of the dinosaur, the better for all truck drivers. Spiteful company reps have been listing false info on DAC reports for years, and DAC itself has been sued by irate drivers in the past.

Sure, if a driver was involved in a collision, list the information. Just because the hand came into the yard tired late one night and knocked over a mailbox or put a chain-link fence slightly out of whack doesn't necessarily make him an "unsafe driver." A lot of sh#t happens out there, and if that's all a driver does, I reckon he's doing alright.

Some of these ridiculous and spiteful company personnel go way out of line with that DAC report... if you scuff a tire on a curb, they make it sound as if you killed a wagonload of kids. F_____ ridiculous... If I were doing the hiring, I'd be more concerned with a driver's MVR and his or her criminal record, if any.

Oh, yeah, almost forgot to tell the OP: you can find many companies and company phone numbers listed by state on that FLEETDIRECTORY.COM site, and you can check the "Transport" column of Craigslist, not only for your town but for outlying areas and distant cities (lots of companies hire out of multiple states). Start making phone calls, hundreds if necessary... stick with it and you'll eventually get results. You can also repeatedly post a brief ad in the "Resume/Job Wanted" column of Craigslist. It's free, so do it again and again... you never know, it might pay off in the long run.

Twice now you've asked for names....do a little homework and you can find this information. The guy who said 100's of co's in ohio dont use dac is dead on. i dont know a lot of names off the top of my head, but im not out looking, I dont need to know their names.

DAC is crooked and is not a legitimate indicator of a drivers worth in my opinion. However, and this is nothing against the OP, they do serve a valuable part in trucking and I for one am glad to have them around. When someone gets jammed up on their DAC and either don't take the effort or can't figure out how to get around the DAC system, that's one less driver on the road who shouldn't be handling a tractor trailer. You gotta be able to think for yourself, and I have seen dozens of drivers on here who let DAC end their career. Better DAC then something dumb happening on the road that should have been avoided.

All the little ### trucking companies with 20 to 30 trucks in my area use it!

The only ones that dont are the beer guys, and apparently you want to be OTR.
