Apparently i have some sort of rash going on and some other problems. We slip seat occassionally and i don't want to give what i got to the other drivers. Also, i don't want to give myself back what i got, which i think may also be happening.
i'm thinking windex, wait about 1 min. and then wipe off. Or lysol disinfectant, wait about 1 min., then wipe off.
But i want to hear other ideas?
What's the best way to disinfect a steering wheel?

You're going in the right direction.
About the only other option is bleach, which has a tendency to blister the hands after prolonged exposure. -
i used to use lysol wipes. but remember, wipe off more than the steering wheel otherwise you will recontaminate. keep the container right inside the door, grab 2 and wipe the outside door handle, grab bar, get in the truck and then wipe the inside door handle, window control, steering wheel, shifter, and brake knobs.
i would do this every morning, i never knew who was driving my truck at night and i didn't want to catch anything. plus add that i am a little ocd when it comes to dirty hands.

i like the bleach idea; But if it's completely dried off, then would this still tend to blister your hands?

Yes, i also meant shift knob, door handles etc....

Lysol makes disinfectant wipes. Handy..

I would not use bleach on any of the interior knobs switches or rubber steering wheel! Bleach will have an adverse effect on this "new" rubber crapola they make them out of!
I use a mixture of Mr Clean in a spray bottle with 2 DROPS of Dawn dish washing detergent. It helps to cut grease and some of these "slobs" who call themselves truck drivers can produce some nasty grease to leave on switches, knobs and other interior equipment! Spray the steering wheel and your rag and clean it while the engine is off so you can really scrub it. You'd be surprised how much dirt and whatever is in that rubber or whatever they are made out of! Then do the whole dash not just "some" knobs!" If you have to touch it clean it! Another spray bottle of water will help to rinse it off!
Mr. Clean now has Frebreeze in it and that helps to clear the "sweaty" smell out of the cab. I also use Turtle Wax carpet cleaner on the seat if it's Velour! after you've cleaned it put your seat cover on it or just use a seat cushion to stay off that nasty thing! It can also clean the seat belt which you might have forgotten about! Think of that thing riding across your neck...yuck! Also Lysol spray to kill whats in the air and surfaces!
I'm OCD when it comes to cab cleanliness and I just could not do the slip seat deal or I'd have to have a tote bag just for cleaning supplies and the beaded seat cushion! And duct tape for my mouth to keep from cussing some slob who needs mommie to clean the truck for him or thinks you will keep doing it and if it's a union job say something to some slob and get hauled in front of the shop steward!Powell-Peralta and Everett Thank this. -
I can completely relate....how do you keep your floors clean? All I can think about is tracking in pee dust, i am always after my husband to wipe his feet and to take his shoes off before he gets in the back, I do not not want pee dust in my bed I tell him...he is like what gee thanks now that's all e thinks about too....do you sweep, then vacuum?

Were those rubber gloves like doc uses , mayby your allergic too something in the wheel, i know i got load of suger beets raw one time and i was forced home after that run , becuse adverse reaction too suger beets, had bad rash and looked like i had the measels

I keep a small bottle of alcohol based hand sanitizer in a cup holder. I am in the habit of several times a day putting some on my hands whenever I get out of the truck. I always wipe the excess on the steering wheel before my hands completely dry.
