Since it'll be a sunday, assuming you're coming into chicago via I-80/ 94 in Indiana, You should be fine taking I-94 all the way through chicago to Milwaukee. No tolls, and traffic should be light.

Taking I-94 all the way would get you one toll booth - on the Edens Spur. That's much better than taking US 41 through Lake County and stopping at a dozen lights, imo.

Yeah, just take 90 through Chicago....shouldn't be too bad on a Sunday, not that Chicago is a joy any time of the week.

Google maps shows going up through Milwaukee, however personally I would just stay on 90 the whole way through Illinois into Wisconsin. Adds about 20 minutes to the time of the trip, but just personal preference to me since I've gone that route several times to and from MN and PA.

Good Luck Hindsy! You will do just fine. Your wife will find this site interesting just like I do. My husband started with Roehl in Jan 2010 and has been doing just fine. It is a little bit of an adjustment for me and the kids at home but it is going well. You have the right attitude. Just go in there, be positive and enjoy the ride. It is a little crazy at first and at times a little frustrating on both sides but everything as a way of working out for the best. Good Luck and enjoy. Let your wife know if she needs anything just ask! I am always willing to help any way I can. Look forward to seeing her on line soon. :biggrin_2559:

I'm a cheap ####### I suppose:) I took 94 to US 41 to avoid the toll and to be honest with you US 41 wasn't that bad at all if you drive slow like me you time all the lights just right:) Good luck on getting everything situated and have a safe trip up.

lpve the micromanaging comments... Roehl is in this to make a profit... go off route it costs money... use an unauthorized toll road *more money... as competitive as hauling freight has become just do your job... If you have to go off route for construction, accidents or weather than just tell them and send in a new 16 5 miles pass your exit... then it will reroute you...truckers are like any industry ... listen to them in the lounge whining about no miles... only to find if you ask them they are on probation or load watch since they had 2 late deliveries because they cant manage their time...
When you guys start out they will be on you to make sure you can deliver... we deliver confidence and satisfaction to our customers...
Stay on route.... trip plan and replan... backup plan... truck GPS...
ince you prove to your FM you are dependable... always early... not rushing to get there ... SAFE... they will extend the leash... If you screw up its also the FM's head to their boss
ALso to all u roehl van drivers out there... stop relaying loads with the tandems behind the D setting... you are responsible to ensure its legal through all the states to the consignee
ok im done with my rant
