Ive been thinking about going for a werner anheisur bush dedicated account in columbus ohio. There are openings and recruiting tells me theres usually an opening. It's home every night (in columbus). I'd have to relocate..which is alright, im sick of livin where i live...

But...is there a REASON that theres an opening?

The opening is because Busch is a HUGE account for Werner. Especially out of Springfield (Columbus) and Girard (Youngstown). With Werner's driver turnover problem, it's actually alot easier to get a decent dedicated account than some people think. Last time I ran with Werner, I landed on the General Mills dedicated account right off my trainer's truck.

I've talked to some of the drivers on the Busch account, and they all seem pretty happy. No touch freight, home every night. You do slip seat in daycabs, though. I think the slipseating thing was the only complaint I heard, overall.

I picked up a split load out of the indy terminal last week and delivered it to the anheuiser busch in granite city, illinois. The load was kegs, through out the trip some of the kegs had fell over onto the floor. I ended up having to help the guy unloading me stack them on pallets which I didn't mind I can use all the excersize I can get lol.

"A truck driver??? WAITING?!?!?!? Well, I never!!! What's the world comin' to, ######???"

Secret to successful slip-seating: deny responsibility for any damage, claim ownership of all tools... including the hardcore air and power tools with traceable serial numbers.

If you want a real good job drive FOR A-B (Anheuser Bush) not freakin' Werner. When I finally got off the road and started at Pepsi I was so much happier. I talk with A-B guys all the time and their loving life. BTW, take it from someone who worked for Werner on two different dedicated accounts; its not worth it. Just because it's dedicated doesn't change the fact its still Werner.

I drove for Southend Beverages, Benton Harbor, for thirteen years. Then, AB went to core carriers in 1998. Distributor-owned rigs were no longer welcome at the AB breweries. AB solved their detention problems and the core carriers provide the yard hostler and a pool of trailers. AB opened interim warehouses such as the one at Howell, MI. More beer is shipped by rail. Trucks make the shorter hauls from the interim warehouses. Distributors are forced to receive a load when AB ships it, not when they have the money to pay for it. I assume the only actual AB road drivers are the ones hauling kegs to the horse tracks. Each AB brewery and interim warehouse has its own core carrier. Schneider pulls three-axle vans out of Howell. Before switching to core carriers, AB occassionally shipped overweight. I do not know if they solved that problem. There was no scale at Columbus in my time hauling beer, but I never crossed a state scale.
