In most states, 45 mph is a legal speed on the interstate. Usually, it's the minimum allowed, but still legal. What was the trucker doing when he rear-ended them? Hopefully not texting on his or her phone.

Why was the truck doing 70 mph in the slow lane to begin with ?????

There had better be rubber on the road when that truck locked up his brakes. If he was texting/watching TV/etc, he should be crucified.

But, it's still his fault. I came up on a 4-wheeler in Wyoming doing 45 in the hammer lane a few days ago on I-80. I was passing another truck and this dingbat was a good 1/4 mile ahead of me. But doing 75, I closed that quickly before I realized just how slow he was going.

Still was able to slow in time. After the truck I passed had passed me on the right, the four-wheeler got over after getting a long blast of the airhorn. He never took the shoulder, so it wasn't mechanical/health related issues with the driver.

    Just unbelievably stupid.

Since this accident probably happened on a two lane road. Just what does the law say the speed limit is?

In most cases 2 lane roads have a maximum, not minimum speed limit.

Back when I had my 27 depot hack, I had pulled out onto route 182 from Richards Garage. I could easily see back up the road some 1500 feet with no traffic. I turned right on to the road and was doing about 40 mph when a blue cabover got on my tail, his bumper not more than 5 feet from that wooden tailgate. The road is posted at 45, yet this fellow seemed to be in a real hurry to either plow me off the road or run the stop sign in a half mile ahead.

I found that even if there was a break down lane that I used to get traffic to pass, it was futile, traffic seemed to think that because I had pulled over and stopped, they should be a nuissance and stop in middle of traffic too. It was a fun car to drive, as long as there were not other drivers around.

That's how I am with my '22 Roadster, I just ease around on the back roads and not get in a hurry. Sometimes it's #### refreshing to be in the slow lane.

The tailgating still happens once in a while tho. Even in the Model A's which can keep up with 90% of traffic.

To my understanding it was a 4 lane?

Not where I saw in the blog.

But, just because it is 4 lane does not make it interstate speed.

Not real positive on either point. But I agree that this shouldn't have happened!
