If that's how ya feel, you're better off out of the truck. Saying there's no future in it for others... that's a different story entirely. You chose two of the worst companies out there---no wonder it didn't work out. Best of luck to ya in school and the job market... some of us are out on the road by choice, and YES, we have degrees. Trucking is a LIFESTYLE, not a JOB, and neither you nor any other hand could pay me enough to do anything else. There's just too much freedom out there... plus I'm touring the country before it is completely ruined by illegal immigration and refugee resettlement scams, as it will be ruined in years ahead. When I'm older, I'll look back upon a whole heap of good memories... and I'll have a solid appreciation of what life in the U.S. was like "back in the good ol' days." :Navigator: :Earth: :Straight road: :Transportation cost :Driver: :Motorcyclist: :Road::occasion5:

Saddletramp-trust me nurses -and drivers- can write books on the stuff and no one would believe us. I have seen the worst of humanity and I have seen some of the best but also alot of sh%$ in the middle. And like drivers-no matter pretty much what happens it's YOUR fault-not the doctors.......we just don't get sued cuz nurse don't make enough $$$$$

Truckin ain't for everybody, and anybody who tells you different probably also has a certain historical bridge in NYC to sell ya. Furthermore, first year is the worst for new drivers. The pay sucks if you don't sign on to the right company, and the bigger outfits work to burn you out as quick as possible. Those of us who have stuck with it do it out of the love of the drive. We sure don't do it for the money, since I figure most of us have the ambition, skill, and work ethic to make better money in just about any other field. Heck, most of the O/O's I've met could run circles around 90% of the management twits I've seen in other fields. And I know every job I've had outside of trucking absolutely loved me, since I applied the same work ethic I used on the road to the rest of my jobs. If it ain't for you, at least you can look back and say "yeah, I did it." No regrets, right? Enjoy the best of life in college, and afterwards, and if you end up in law enforcement try to remember what it was like when you drove if ya pull over a driver, haha. Good luck to ya, and keep in touch with us, yeah? I'm OUT!

    Hey, "lovesthedrive!"

I always wondered what made some of those D.O.T. bears so ornery... :biggrin_2559:

Are you aiming for a JD as in juris doctor? My dad has one of those. I think you may have to set a more realistic goal. Real life is not like Law & Order, or The Practice, on TV.

I know of one who actually misses trucking. He drove a I think 4 years. Now he is a RN making great money. Just because you drive a truck does not mean your uneducated.

I miss driven it not for everyone but it is for me. Love the lifestyle. Yes I remember the bad days. My brother loves construction I cant stand it. Just because I dont like it dont mean no one should do it. I am doing it now till I can find a driven job.
