Maybe its not considered a toll but they (US customs) are collecting $10.75 each trip.
-
The $10.75 is the "US Customs Processing Fee" which you have to pay because you don't have a transponder for US Customs!
-
I've always had a transponder so I didn't realize it was now $10.75.It used to be $5.Another rip-off by US Customs!!
-
If you nave a transponder, tell them. You should also have a proof of payment, and if you show them, there is no fee
-
It hasn't been 5.00 for many years.

Transponder ??? I have an ez-pass but I'm sure you're talikng about something else. By the way, I crossed yesterday and they didn't charge me !!
On another note, it took me about 4 hours to get from Toronto to Peace Bridge yesterday (6/3) so I'm going to have to give the Thousand Islands route a try. Toronto is actually worse than DC !!! I would rather run smoothly for an extra 60 miles than traffic like yesterday. -
You can buy a transponder for paying the custom charge. It is for when you cross many times.
My company will not reimburse for the cost of the transponder unit, but they will pay for the fee. -
I have had to do Toronto a few times. It's not bad enough to make up for the extra miles unless you are not planning well. You know how it gets around Toronto. Just don't drive through during peak traffic times and then the Peace Bridge should also be a ghost town when you get there.

Seems like anything after 2:00 p.m and its a real mess. I'll try and make it by noon and see if that helps. I agree the xtra miles can be a killer. I know I would save the tolls on I90 but that would not make up the difference. Does the Thousand Island crossing back up like the Peace Bridge ??
